Omma
My dc are 20 months apart in age. Should I use WWE with each of them at separate times, or try to combine the lesson in some way? What are your experiences with using this curriculum? I have a ds who will be 9 in March and a dd who just turned 7. I was trying to figure out if I could do the story (for narration) with both of them together, but then I don't know if I should alternate who answers each question and I guess it would be confusing to try and get each of them to narrate the story back to me at the same time! I have the WWE workbook for level 2 and it looks really good! I know my dd will like it, as she has been doing well with FLL. We are on about Lesson 60. I may start her with about 6 weeks of lessons from Level 1 first, and then go into the Level 2 workbook. My ds just listens in while I am doing FLL with my dd, but he has been doing R&S English. As anyone tried to combine any part of WWE with their dc, or just work with one dc at a time? Just curious. Thanks! Brenda
yslek
I'm using WWE 2 (the workbook) for both B & T. They are just under 22 months apart in age. I do their lessons separately. B is moving at a slightly faster pace than T. (I skip the copywork days for him, but started in level 2 because I wasn't getting it done with just the book & he really needs to work on dictation.) They both read the stories to themselves rather than having me read them aloud (this happens in level 3 of the book). The lessons don't take very long; so far it's working just fine. :)
FriedClams
I have 2 kids 16 months apart - 6 and 7 (1st and 2nd grade). We do 2 lessons per day in WWE (one copy work, one narration), 4 days per week. I feel like this is a good pace for us now. Both kids do it together, though they do the different levels for copywork (you can see it on samples - they have an easy and harder level to copy). Later, we'll see - we may go to one lesson per day. For now - they match up fine and it would be a waste for me to split them up.
JudoMom
I'm using WWE with my 9,8, & 6 year old (and a bit with my ds4). I vary the copy work according to their ability (I print it out in StartWrite). I read the paragraph to all of them, and then I take them out in the hall (so their brothers can't hear) and have them answer the questions/narrate to me. So are you using a certain level, or more than one level? Also, I've gotta find out about StartWrite. My dh is very computer savy, but he has never heard of it. I have heard that people use it to reformat workbook pages somehow? Thanks! Brenda

Well you know me, never do things the easy way. :D So I am doing them separate at a slightly different pace. StartWrite is great. It is just a simple program that has a bunch of the handwriting fonts (including HWT) where you can type in what you want and it will print it out with the lines you need (it can do HWT type lines). It is in the $30-40 range, so not super expensive either. It isn't as flexible as a regular word processing program, but is much easier to use for the application it was created. Check out the demo at StartWrite. It will allow you to get a feel for the program, but be warned after the first time you close the program you start to loose the ability to use certain keys so. I.E. make sure you start it the first time when you have some time to sit and really mess with it. I want to say I found it cheaper somewhere else....but I don't remember for sure now. Omma
Thanks, Heather, for the info. I almost went and looked at StartWrite right now (in the middle of the night), so I am glad you told me to wait until I had more time! Merry Christmas to one and all. My ds was up with a stomachache from all the rich sweets he nibbled on at a party we went to Christmas Eve. I should be getting back to bed now, but had to check in here for a minute. :tongue_smilie: Brenda

I originally ordered it just for my ds6, but I like it so much that I've been using it for my older 2 until we restart Classical Writing. Mallory
We started out together (19 mo apart). We did it pretty much all together. Sure maybe they get a break if thier brother knows one of the narration answers they didn't, but I think any disscussion that goes on with all of us, more then makes up for it. I just write it out by hand. They each have a composition book, and I write the copywork they should do, and thier narrations for them to copy. At this point I have moved my 9yo ahead, but if he gets to level 3 and thier isn't a wkbk for it, then I will go back to using the same selections for each of them.
