Mesa
How many lessons are in each grade level? (both a and b books combined.) My son is in Abeka in Abeka Grade 3 math right now and doing well. We have also supplemented here and there with MUS Alpha Beta and Gamma. Would it be ok to start with Singapore math 1 or 2 and just double up on the lessons until they become more challenging for him. I really want him to learn mental math. Penelope
For level 1 there are 130 workbook exercises (2-4 pages each), plus a handful of review exercises. Approximately 140 all together. That's if you do none of the extra books.
Mesa
Thank you! My son will throw a fit over having to do 2-4 pages......we may not be able to move through it fast after all.

Just to let you know Singapore's 2-4 pages is nothing like Abeka's 2-4 pages. There are many fewer questions. We used Abeka from 1st to 3rd. We tried to start in 4th, but ds hated it. We switched to Singapore and it was such a relief.
Mesa
Thank you Paula, that does help. I'm imagining an Abeka or Horizons math page lol.... theres no way my son could get 4 of those pages done in 1 day. EEEK!
cbollin
Just agreeing that the pages in Singapore aren't that long or bad. Here's a link to some samples to see the differences. Singapore workbook samples -crystal
