Wendi
I liked it, but I didn't love it. I mean, Meryl Streep is wonderful as always, I just wanted to hug Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan was gorgeous. But...I didn't love it. Is it just me? And the bit about Colin Firth's character, at the end...that was weird. He's Mr. Darcy! Wendi
Pammy
It was a ridiculous story and so predictable. I did get a hint of what Colin Firth's character was early on though.
TracyR
Haven't seen it , but my sister did and she said it was awful. That the music in the only good thing about the movie.
HappyGrace
I remember when My Big Fat Greek Wedding was out, everyone raved about it and I liked it but it was just eh for me. I'm pretty sure I had my expectations so high going in that it couldn't measure up. Maybe that's what happened to you!?
lighthouseacademy
The story line was totally predictable and cheesy, but the music was fun and the scenery was pretty.
snickelfritz
Fun to watch. Good music. Nothing too emotional or heavy. They're all pretty predictible. For me, it ranks right along with "You've Got Mail", "Runaway Bride" and others of a similer vein. I want to be just like Meryl Streep. I told dh that she is just a stunning woman. I love the comfy, feminine style they gave her for the movie. I like Pierce Brosnan, altough I found his singing uncomfortable. Dh gave it to me last night as an early Christmas present. I had seen it in the theatre. I watched it again and was still toe-tapping and clapping along. I think he laughed more at me than he did the movie. lynn
I pretty much went to see it because I love the music and who was in it. They story line well, not high on my list. Gotta love the courage of the cast to sing and the outfits.... I think Meryl Streep said in an interview that she did it to embarrass her kids. The very, very end.....was great. I bet they all had fun doing that movie. Oh, I also discovered that the lady that played Meryl STreep's friend is the mother of the red headed boys in harry potter. OnTheBrink
Yes, it was predictable, but so fun! I liken it to Grease. I loved it!
kewb
It was the predictable cheese factor put to Abba that made it a fun movie to see with my friends. I can relate to expectations set too high. That is how I felt about On Golden Pond. I think I am the only person in the world who hated that movie. missplacedalaskan
I like the movie. It isn't my "favorite", but I like it. I will be watching it again & again. I watched it for the first time tonight. BUT... I think it is NOT a kids movie...but GREAT MARRIED MOMMY Movie! They are all ABBA songs, which I LOVE. I now need to decide if I will let Dd #1 watch it. Right now I am thinking absolutely NOT. But her friend recommends it as a GREAT movie. Kim in TN
Obviously it's not just you, but I LOVED it! I loved everything except the tall woman and the little "boy" that liked her. That was just creepy. I've only saw it once, but I can't wait until Christmas. If I have hinted enough, I should receive the movie from my dh. :) I can understand men not liking it, but can't imagine women of all ages not liking it. After watching it at the theater, I bought the soundtrack for me and my 15dd. We also loved the soundtrack. It will be a lot more fun to watch it again as we plan to sing along the next time! :)
