Gwenny
I'd love to know the same thing. I'm considering it for next year but want to know more before I shell out the big bucks! $300! Gwen :lurk5:

Amber in AUS
We received MOTL a few weeks ago and plan to start using it in the new year. I am VERY excited by it. My DD is quite good at math even at 4.5. I have really struggled this last year to keep her appropriately stimulated and had no idea what to teach next or where to start. About 6 months ago i purchased MUS Primer after meeting 1 ladies who homeschooled and raved about MUS. I didn't know any other home schoolers at the time, it was a chance meeting at a swimming pool. MUS was great to start with. DD was engaged by the blocks and DVD but hated the format of the workbook. I have come to learn she is a visual learner and LOVES things to be in colour. We hooned thru half of MUS then she started to hate it so we switched so Singapore EB 2a which she loves, she really enjoys the colour and variety however i was not that pleased with their approach so was again on the look out for something else. Then i came across MOTL and it seemed like what i was after. It took me ages to convince DH it was worth while given the strength of our dollar against yours but in the end he said yes and i got it. I love the fact they have multiple ways of teaching the same concept. I love the fact that if we hit a wall in 1 area we can switch to something new and come back to the other later. I love the 5 a day review of everything they know. I love the record keeping. I just love MOTL. But in saying that we have not implemented it yet. I can't wait to get started! I enjoy math as does my DD by the looks of things. I really wanted to provide real world uses for math and MOTL seems just right for us. It def isn't for someone wanting something easy, open and go. It does require some planning and prep but i think it will be wonderful to teach all my DC the same concept at different level as we progress. They do have a Yahoo Group where you might find more info too.
Rosie_0801
There have been a few other threads: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56985&highlight=%22math+level%22+Rosie I'm sure there were more, but I can't find them. Their yahoo group is a very good resource though, so go lurk there and you should find out all you want to know. :) Rosie
Trivium Academy
It def isn't for someone wanting something easy, open and go. It does require some planning and prep but i think it will be wonderful to teach all my DC the same concept at different level as we progress. :iagree: It's fabulous in my opinion BUT there is planning and prep. Life is hectic for me right now and I was dreading having to send back MOTL b/c I know it is what I want to use with my kids but I need something as a backup so that we stay on a course so I'll be using MUS as well with a reluctant visual learner. I just can't send MOTL back, lol! Right now it's helping me prepare for taking the college placement test.
pjssully
I really wanted to like this--in fact, i did order it and tried for a few weeks. But i found the planning was more than i was willing to do. I have four kids so planning for the four is time consuming. I need something open and go at this point. Also, my 7 yr old twin sons are SO math1em2atically inclined that i wanted s omething that included mental math and HARD story problems--so we will be doing a combination of singapore and math u see. They do have a great return policy which i took advantage of so you can actually order and try for a while to determine if it is going to fit your family. good luck pam
