Ottakee
I would like to make some spinach artichoke dip. Can I use fresh spinach in this? If so, how much do you use in place of one of those boxes of frozen chopped spinach? Would I have to cook it first?
Georgie
I think I would cook it first and then it would have the same texture as the frozen. I'm not sure on the amount, because a bag of fresh spinach actually cooks down a lot. I think I would start with one amount, see how much it cooks down and add a bit more. Parrothead
This recipe might give you a starting point: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,191,145182-255192,00.html
CAMom
I've used fresh several times recently. I did not cook it ahead of time and it was still great. My recipe calls for 1 10oz box of spinach. I used about two cups of chopped fresh spinach. Yum!:)
Ottakee
Thanks. My dip just came out of the oven. I cooked the spinach just a bit and then drained it well. Now will come the taste test.
