MitchellMom
We (my mother, father, and I) are clueless. My husband is a conservative teacher and college professor and the absolute pickiest person on earth. No clothes, no shoes, no socks. I would appreciate any suggestions! Parrothead
I think there is a gift card for Kohl's in the little box. I haven't opened it and looked yet. Thanks for the reminder. Yeah, it is a gift card for Kohl's. Boy, I thought for a few minutes there I was going to have to totally rewrap that one. abbeyej
Ugh. I struggle with this too! And dh's birthday is a few days after Christmas, so I have to come up with both sets of gifts at once! Dh is getting a Gorilla Pod tripod for his camera. I hope he can use it. ;) He's also getting a rechargeable compressor for inflating the car tires. He likes to be obsessive about checking them, but it's always such a pain going to the gas station and finding one where the air works and then finding quarters... lol... Um... I'm getting him a game called "Destruct 3", that I saw in the Timberdoodle catalog. It looked like something he could enjoy playing with ds. And a couple of clothes things -- only in *exactly* the brand and style I know he already wears. ;) In past years, I've given him art supplies: a large case with a huge number of Prismacolor pencils; another year oil paints and canvas; a decent easel... Last year I went out on a limb and got him the "Make Your Own Monster" kit from FAO Schwarz and he just loved it! lol... But that takes a particular personality. :) Would your husband appreciate dvd sets? Dh and I have enjoyed watching some tv series on dvd that we missed on the air. LBC
I just went out today and picked up a theater style popcorn maker for dh. He's put a lot of work into making a home theater this year, and I think he'll like this. Lori

I've already bought him every single season of The Andy Griffith Show. :001_huh: I can't think of any other show he would want. Political talk shows? He would love a ticket to see Prairie Home Companion! Oh - and goodness, you reminded me - his birthday is January 14! Yikes! :tongue_smilie: Now I need to think of more presents! I just went out today and picked up a theater style popcorn maker for dh. He's put a lot of work into making a home theater this year, and I think he'll like this. Michelle in AL
My parents are giving my dh a grill cookbook, he loves cooking. I'm giving him a drum set (and myself a headache) This may be a cool gift if he keeps a journal or writes notes, being he's a professor: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_12&listing_id=17967385 I'm in love with etsy leather this yr. I want a leather purse, my dd is getting a leather guitar strap and my brother is getting leather Shakespeare themed book marks.
coralloyd
My parents have offered to do little things around the house that we don't have time to do. My Mom is going to hem some curtains that I have been meaning to get to, and some other small things. My Dad already fixed a whole in our bathroom wall where we had to check the plumbing. He is also gong to install some new fausets that we bought awhile ago. These things are a big blessing to my husband. He has the ability to do them but he is very busy with his self owned business and he is very invloved in the political system of or small town. And you all know how busy I am hsing with 3 young childern.:willy_nilly: this is a great gift!
Carol in Cal.
I would look at the Levenger catalogue. It has a very distinctly upper crust professorial slant. Quite conservative, in a very lavish sort of way. (Glad I don't have to buy for a professor, as the prices in that catalogue appal me.) Niffercoo
My mom and dad are getting my dh a GPS thing for his truck, and a minutes card for his prepaid cell phone. DH and I aren't exchanging gifts this year... he lost his 2nd job right before thanksgiving, and his new one doesn't start until January. Tina
My dh is getting a new Rolodex, a stainless steel water bottle- now that he's trying to drink lots of water, a new roll of packaging tape with the 'dispenser', and seasons 2 & 3 of Renegade. We're big on old shows here, and he and I used to watch that one early in our marriage. How about an Amazon or B&N gift card, or one for a massage (bil likes those...)? Tap
A nice coat for this year. Last year it was a "Scan Gauge" for his car. It is a cool electronic toy that shows mpg in real time and other things. It is neat to see how your driving effects the mpg you get. Jenny in Florida
. . . to a long-ish thread I started begging for help coming up with ideas for my own husband. And I would contend that my husband is actually the pickiest person on earth, by the way. Anyway, here's the link: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65017 And here's what I have decided to give him: - A nice new, really soft robe, which I'm embellishing with an applique. - A charging station with enough spaces for his phones and iPod - A rice-filled microwavable heating pad with a cute cover. (He has a bad back.) - Copies of the two Shutterfly photo books I made about the kids. I'm not thrilled, but at least there will be things under the tree. dangermom
I got him a trim saw. My folks generally get him something techy that we can't afford.
Nestof3
Probably won't help you, but I am getting him Pentax Papillo binoculars, a Milwaukee cordless circular saw & case, model railroading videos, a Journey CD, and a Teeccino sampler. My parents are getting him a Milwaukee cordless drill.
Retired
He just bought a jacked-up pickup think 1980 big foot trucks. He sold one when we got married so we would have money for a house. He is going through a midlife crisis. He wants to be a kid again. Well my 40 yo self can't get in the truck. So I am buying steps to get up in the truck:D for his Christmas present To bad I can't look like I did in 1987. I hope he out grows his 2nd childhood fast. apheartsong
My husband usually buys what he wants when he wants it. He loves history and brain games, so my parents are getting him a gift card to a book store. His parents said they'll send money for the family after Christmas (usually 100-175 for our family of 5). Unicorn.
My dh is getting from me: a shaving kit (or toiletry bag or whatever your term is for that particular bag), a new watch, a dutch oven (he is an assistant scoutmaster and camps every month), his parents are getting him a camp stove that also has a grill on it, clothes and cash. My dad gives us a subscription to Texas Highways and beautiful, green, cash! My dh is always easy though. The 2nd season of Hereos was also on his list, but I gave up on finding it around here, and waited to long to order it online. For your dh, what about a nice set of pens, a leather ink blotter, or a Newton's cradle for his office desk?
Janet in Toronto
I'm giving him a Thule cartop carrier for skiis/snowboards. The boys are giving him a sheepskin cover for his carseat. My mom is giving him a fleece jacket and dress shirt. He's also getting cologne/shaving balm, slippers, and a snorkeling gear for our trip south in March. JudoMom
A new coat (his request, and he's approved pictures of it), Band of Brothers on DVD, and a new pair of pj pants.
TraceyS/FL
They didn't ask for ideas, he's not high on their list right now - so i'm guessing its another joint appliance gift that will leave me more depressed. They don't seem to realize that while they are punishing him - it's really getting to me.
Danestress
Some years they have given each SIL a cashmere sweater, but usually they give gift certificates. I give DH whatever he says he wants, which most year includes a lot of art books, gift certificates for art supplies, and sometime a video or two. My DH is easy to buy for because he has a lot of hobbies and interests. I can go through a bookstore and find 2 dozen books he would like in an hour. momofkhm
But I got him a TV. He picked it out though. He really doesn't know what he wants from everyone else though.
RoughCollie
DH is getting books from me, an LL Bean winter hat from the kids, and the biggest Whitman's Sampler I can find from the dog. I also cashed in his points at Holiday Inn for gift cards to B&N and Outback. He is a voracious reader and American candy eater, and he is always complaining about his winter hats not being warm enough or not staying fastened. He is the most difficult person to buy for on the face of the earth. The only reason there are books available to buy for him is that he hasn't bought books for himself in a few months due to my issuing a death threat if he did. I got some of the books he wanted from the library to tide him over. In the past, he has gotten the Hornblower and Band of Brothers dvd sets, and other WWII and non-fiction history dvds. He got a Montblanc pen one year, but he lost it, so I don't get him little items any more. We also gave him a small refrigerator for his office one year and a safe for his office another year -- he doesn't use them. LisaKinVA
Woodworking tools (3 different ones, mostly peripheral clamps, etc.) Knee Blades (for putting in all the tile and hardwood in the new house) Movie Tickets (okay, that's as much a gift for me as it is for him!) Digital Photo Frame for his desk at work He'd really like a Blu-Ray disk player, the Calvin & Hobbes set from Costco, and a new video game player... but it's not in the budget this Christmas. elegantlion
My dh is getting a gift card to Lowes from his mom, a prepaid Visa from my parents, and from me he requested and is getting, a slot-car race car track, a few CDs and season 1 of Mission Impossible TV show. How about a TV show on DVD? Also agree about the levenger catalog. I love to peruse that one. An audio book?
Country Mouse
As a combined birthday/Christmas/finishing Fire Academy gift my dh is getting an iPod Touch. He has no idea and I'm giving it to him today. I can't wait!!!!
Diana in OR
I always get my dh 2 calendars. 1 is a wall calendar from Despair.com (you have to have a certain sense of humour to appreciate it), and the other is a page-a-day calendar for his desk. Barnes and Noble online has hundreds of them and you'd probably find something your dh would like. This year, dh is also getting a digital camera. He wants to have one he can take with him to work and on trips and doesn't like taking the family camera, in case we want to use it at home.
