How to decide the best IEW course?

Recommended Posts

Son is in 5th grade, and loves to write non school related work, unless it is a topic of his choice. He loves to read, and that comes across in his vocabulary. But he does not get best grades in writing because he lacks structure. I want to enroll him in IEW but given it is almost end of the academic year, I am not sure where I must start, and if he will benefit from starting this late. I am also considering AOPS Language Arts (have in person location), and MKT, but have the same questions I had for IEW. Would appreciate help from you knowledgable parents.

I have never enrolled a child in an IEW class. I have used IEW with all my children. The place you are enrolling him could help you. When I started IEW with my first he was fifth grade. I used the video course called Student Writing Intensive B. I could have used any of the theme books but found the video teaching helpful for him.

Hi! Thanks for the replies. Since DS is almost finishing Grade 5, and his vocab and grammar are great, can we start with B instead of A? What happens if we go with A but feel the need to upgrade after a few lessons?

I started my fifth grader with B no problem.
