I haven't used the the prek program, but I'm using the K right now and I really like it. They trace the letters. They say things like help the cat get to the milk by tracing the letters. My ds really likes tracing the letters when he thinks he is helping the cat get to the milk. There isn't an overwhelming amount of tracing either. I think it is just enough. I did HWT prek with him already and I really didn't care for it much. I'm thinking about using the Handwriting Help for Kids prek for the next one. Also the kumon books are good as well. I forgot to mention them in the previous thread.

We finished HWT Pre K, and I just wasn't thrilled. I took a look at Handwriting Help for Kids K level and liked what I saw, so I ordered it. So far, I really like it a lot. It's very specific and verbalizes the formation, which is great for my daughter. The "stories" on making the letters are cute. I like it so far.

We used both the Learn Letters and Learn Numbers with Spider Stories. Ariel liked tracing the letters to "help" do things like get the cat to the milk, too. They form the letters in a similar way to HWT, although it's not the same look. I got the Learn Numbers one specifically because I didn't like the way the HWT numbers looked. Both are cute and were engaging for DD, just be careful if you buy the write on kit because the marker they included in mine is permanent, so I couldn't use the rewriteable surface after the first try. :glare: The Wikki Stix (in the preschool and number kits) are very good for a child who is a tactile/kinesthetic learner.

Well, I have to disagree that they form the letters and numbers similarly to HWT. That was one of the things that I liked. We had used the HWT PreK, and I didn't like that the base for forming most letters was the top center. Handwriting Helps for Kids starts the "clock letters" as they call them in Spalding, at two o'clock. I think that's a much better approach and was one of the things that attracted me to the program.

Thanks for posting Aurelia. How exactly do they form the letters similar to HWT? Just curious.

I was generally referring to how they make the "d" starting out like "a" and just going up taller rather than making it like a reverse "b". I did like that HHFK had letters that looked more like the standard "ball and stick" formation rather than the HWT font.
