Hi! My kids love science. We've subscribed to Zoobooks for a few years, and I'd like to branch out. Can you recommend some science mags that your kids love?

We highly recommend anything put out by Carus Publishing. We particularly like Ask (for 6-9 years). They also put out Odyssey (for 10-15 years). No ads at all and wonderful content. http://www.cricketmag.com/shop_magzines.asp

I really like Discovery from Apologetics Press. They have great articles about all kinds of science topics and emphasize that it's part of God's design for the world. They have some good online stuff too.

My boys have enjoyed National Geographic for Kids (fluffy but entertaining for them) and Muse. In the past they enjoyed My Big Backyard and Ranger Rick. This year we're trying DIG (http://www.cricketmag.com)

My kids like Ranger Rick and My Big Backyard, too.

 

National Geographic Kids is a waste of money, IMHO. Sure, the kids like it, but mostly it is full of ads and tips on computer games. I don't recall any of them getting anything even remotely "sciency" from it--ever!
