pbajgrow
I am I right to assume that WWE would replace WS? This may be a lame question, but I'm a curriculum junkie trying to put next years list together before all the tax money is spent! Thanks, jen;)
Lori in MS
WWE is 1st to 4th grade but can be used for older children. Some people start Writing Strands 3 in 3rd grade but I think it is better to start it in 4th or 5th grade. If you are doing WWE, you do not have to do Writing Strands too. If it were me, I would do WWE in 1st to 4th and begin Writing Strands 3 in 5th grade. Or you could do WWE level 4 3 days per week and WS 3 2 days per week in 4th grade. My dc could not have handled WS any earlier. I think it is best for logic stage. although it does teach different things than WWE.
skylark
I have been using Writing Strands with my dd, 10 and it's just not working out. She is just not ready for all the creative writing yet. I have purchased WWE for my 7 yr old and am going to implement year 4 with my 10 yr old instead.
kbpaulie
WWE is 1st to 4th grade . Am I right in thinking that addt'l levels were coming out? If so, when would this be and any ideas on the content? Thanks- KB
inashoe
Don't they cover different aspects of writing ? WWE does copywork / narration / dictation whereas WS does compositions ?
Linda...inOwasso
WWE = filet mignon WS = McDonald's hamburger patty filled with fat & gristle that's been left under the heat lamp far too long Save your $$ and skip WS... Amazon.com sells WWE at a reduced price + free shipping. HTH :)

I wish there was a store in which we could sit, have coffee, and swim through all curriculums to make better decisions! Jen
pbajgrow
Don't they cover different aspects of writing ?WWE does copywork / narration / dictation whereas WS does compositions ? This was my thought too. It was also my thought that FLL4 is full of these same aspects; therefore, we wouldn't need WWE. Or am I wrong? I have no problem doing both, but know that dd and I will not like doing the same type of work twice in one day. Jen

Jen This is what I remember from the huge mega-thread on WWE: FLL is intended to be a complete grammar and writing curriculum. If you are using FLL, you do not need WWE. If you want to use both WWE and FLL, skip the writing in FLL and just do the assignments in WWE. HTH!
