Anyone own a lap desk? Need opinions

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of getting my dh a lap desk, he works on his laptop often when he is home. Do you use or even like your lap desk? Right now he uses a pillow, lap desks look so useful, but I'm wondering if it's one of those things that are a good idea but that never get used. Does your lap desk have a cushion? Levenger has one with a cushion and a bigger one without. Thanks for your advice. :)

I have one that is similar to the one with the cushion - but not quite as fancy. Mine has a plastic top and bright green bean-bag kind of cushion under it. My parents bought it for me when I was on bedrest with a pregnancy. It's had a lot of use - the kids love to use it when they want to write while sitting on the couch. I use it for the same but don't use it with my laptop. I sit on the couch with my laptop straight on my lap.

I think the larger one looks almost too big and cumbersome.

I have it and I researched lap desks before I got it. I LOVE it. The cushion is removable, so that should solve your problem since he can use it either way! DH got me the dark one and got it monogrammed and it's really special with that. It's a nice size-not too big, not too small. I didn't think I'd use the elastics but they are great, and also removable. It's solid and well-made.

I bought dh a laptop lapdesk and Barnes & Noble last year and he uses it all the time. It's got a wrist-rest built in, and it's got a non-skid something on top the helps the laptop not to slide around and it creates a bit of airspace underneath so the laptop doesn't get too hot. It has the pillow thing underneath.

My Mom had a few of the Levenger desks like you're looking at (with the pillow) and they are nice. I wouldn't get the bigger one without the pillow, because part of what makes a lapdesk nice is that the pillow conforms to your lap and makes it a stable surface.
