athena1277
I want to make peppermint bark to give to friends. I have a recipe, but it doesn't say how much chocolate or candy canes to use. (and which type of chocolate tastes better...white or regular?) Also, what do you pour the chocolate on? Just wax paper on the counter, or on a cookie sheet, or what? I feel like such an idiot to ask all this, but I really want it to turn out right. Thanks for helping me!!!
Melinda in VT
I use white chocolate. I melt a 12 oz bag and then just add crushed candy canes until it looks as minty as I want it. It's a very forgiving candy. :001_smile: (Oh, and I spread it on waxed paper.)
seanda
I use wax paper or my silpat. You can use white or milk or dark chocolate, your preference. I like both... I melt one bag of semi-sweet chocolate (the better the quality of the chocolate the better... so definitely do not use the super cheap no name for this one) and spread it out fairly thin. Then I put it in the fridge for a bit to cool it off and harden. Meanwhile I melt white chocolate then spread this on top and sprinkle with candy cane bits. I love the look of the white chocolate with the candy cane bits... it looks so festive. But, if you buy peppermint bark you will find it comes with all kinds of chocolate... so use what you like. LG Gone Wild
So you melt (in a double boiler) milk chocolate and then spread it out on wax paper. As that hardens, you melt white chocolate. As that melts, you crush candy canes. When white chocolate has melted, add the crushed candy canes and then pour over the hardened milk chocolate? Did I get it right?
