Aubrey
My dc have *finally* gotten old enough that they understand the fun & magic of recording themselves on the tape recorder. They're hilariously over-dramatic, referring to their imaginary audience as "my children" in sappy-ominous voices. In fact, it reminds me of my sister & me! I'd like to send a copy of the tape to my mom (because I won't part w/ my own!)--but...how??? I don't have a dual tape deck anymore. It was hard enough to find a single tape deck on Amazon. After I finally ordered the expensive old relic, a neighbor mentioned that she thought mp3 players have a record feature. :glare: Why didn't I know that??? Anyway, we've got what we've got now. Is there anything we can do w/ it as far as sharing goes that's not over-the-moon? I mean, if not, it's no big deal. I've never been good at sharing anyway.
TraceyS/FL
Do you have an input jack on your computer? (Line in, mic in) Then you can buy a cable to use from the headphone jack on the tape player to the line in on the computer. I can't help you with what to use software wise on the PC side (i'm a mac user), but there should be something out there free! I have the kind of cable sitting here behind me.... i either picked it up at WM or Radio Shack, i can't remember.

You may have a sound recorder with your operating system (I have been told some even have Nero. Otherwise Goldwave is an excellent program which offers a free demo version that you can download from online. Basically what you need to do is record the tape into a sound file, cut each song into a separate file and save them as mp3's. Then you can burn them to a CD or do whatever you want with them. Hooking it up and adjusting volume levels so it all works can be tricky, I usually have my dh do that part...
