Remudamom
I just walked up to my tack room where I keep a few square bales closer to where I feed the horses. All three dogs were with me. I walked in and one of the dogs started after something in the corner. I went over and hauled him off of a possum. Then the dog THAT I JUST BATHED found a skunk up under my hay bales. Of course she attacked. Of course it sprayed. I managed to open the big garage door so it could air out, but skunkie is still in there. The smell was so bad I had to hold my breath. As far as I know possum is still in there too, peeing on my hay bales, which could make my horses really sick. So dogs are in the garage, which is right under the master bedroom. That won't work. Neither will turning them loose, they'll go right after the skunk again. I tried to get a pic, but the smell is just overwhelming. :cursing::cursing: Now I'll have to get in a truck, drive up to the big hay barn and haul out a new bale for tonight. Gah. newbie
What a day, time to get over to Colleen's for Hot Toddies, you deserve it. Thats like washing your car and it rains, but much, much worse. I didnt know possums and skunks hang out together, do you think they will kill each other off. That will take care of it. TammyinTN
OH. MY. STARS!...you poor thing. I really dislike skunks since we got Ella(our border collie). Hope the possum and skunk find a new location soon!
Mom2legomaniacs
Ewwww, that's just, ewwww. I am glad I don't live next to you at this very moment. Stinky!
Doran
I've often wondered why the little buggers don't just stay OUT THERE where they are meant to belong, instead of trying to sidle up to us humans. It's like vermin sprawl! Sorry for your rough night. How'z about you, a bottle of rum and a shotgun in the barn for a night of...um...fun? Remudamom
Well, I thought it was pretty hysterical. My family has banned me from the den, and didn't even want to see the pictures I snuck back up to get.
Vida Winter
Remudamom, I am all at the same time ROFL, aghast and horrified at your predicament. It sounds just like that dog to attack a skunk just hours after a bath. The next bath is bound to be even more traumatic.

Aubrey
What you need is a nice hot bath & a good story. I'd recommend "Barn Burning" by Wm. Faulkner.

TwinMominTX
Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and dish soap. I've stocked up on the ingredients after our recent run in's with skunks.
jensway
Possums and skunks OH MY!:ack2: I've done the dog bath after a skunk not a pretty smell. We tried the tomato juice, but really had better luck with this recipe: 1 quart of Hydrogen peroxide 1/4 cup of baking soda 2 tsp of a citris smelling dish soap Mix it up,put it on the dog let the mix stay on the dog for about 10 mins.

3lilreds in NC
Wow, all the fun's being had at your house tonight! That is funny, and at the same time, makes you want to bang your head against the wall. I am not usually glad we live in the city, but hearing about your dog (and you) being sprayed by a skunk does make me glad to be "suburban" just now.
