SilverMoon
Anyone have a beginning drawing book they like for high school? My teen is specifically asking for an intro course that teaches basic skills. They are quite firmly NOT interested in online classes, topical step by step books, or "just YouTube it." They do enjoy manga/anime style art, but that's not a requirement. We're considering Oak Meadow's Drawing and Design, but it looks like so much more than what we're looking for. A half credit course would be fine. ETA: rising 9th grader Edited June 22, 2022 by SilverMoon
Zoo Keeper
Options that have gone over well at my house: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain books by Andrew Loomis -- Fun with a Pencil, Successful Drawing, Creative Illustration, and others I know you said no online, but one of mine really enjoyed EP's professional drawing course. It was easy to follow and laid a good grounding in basics.
Farrar
I'd go with Oak Meadow or Artistic Pursuits. Yeah, both are probably more than what you want, but it's okay if you just do half of it and even skip some stuff and then award a half credit. 1
