happi duck Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I'm looking for n94 (ear loops) masks with valves. My Google skills are lacking. Any ideas? I have yet to find k95 or 95 masks that fit well...or maybe they fit well and the warm air is coming through the mask and still fogging my glasses. Idk! I'm wondering if an exhalation valve would help. Quote
wathe Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I've never seen a KF94 with an exhalation valve, though the standard does allow for them. I have seen KN95 with valves. Home Depot seems to carry them. There are lots of valved N95 styles, but they will all have head straps, not earloops. I've had good luck with 3M 1804 v-flex, and 3M 1870+ aura (both unvalved) with glasses, even with exertion. For what that's worth. Both have head straps though. (I'm sure that you already know that the valve removes the value of the mask for source control. And that places where masks are mandated usually won't accept valved masks.) 4 1 Quote
happi duck Posted April 6, 2022 Author Posted April 6, 2022 @wathe Thanks! I might need to just practice wearing the head straps. I get a bit panicky with them, feeling trapped. Good reminder! I would only wear it where masks are not required. Quote
Beth S Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 You may be able to find a sewing friend who can swap the straps for you. I got elastic from a friend that was slightly wider, but it does the trick. 1 Quote
Arcadia Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 The masks for wildfires usually have valves and filters. However, the ones with ear loops are rarely n95 certified. I think someone in this forum mentioned cutting the head straps and tie the cut straps up ear loops style. 1 Quote
