teachermom2834 Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 It is being extended again until August 31. Officially to be announced tomorrow I guess. The other student loan thread had taken another direction but I thought some others might have been watching for this. I'm a bit baffled at them waiting so close to the restart date to announce anything and then just until August 31 seems strange. Do we really think they will start right back up right before midterms? Or do we think this is to buy some time to get some sort of cancellation in place to be announced before midterms? Maybe they just want to be able to make another announcement before midterms? Two of my dc graduated in 2020 so they have yet to have to start up with their loans. They will be able to pay them but it was nice to have some time to get on their feet before they started up. I do feel like the constant uncertainty about what is happening with them is not fantastic. Of course they will be and should be prepared for them to start whenever they do but it feels like the messaging and communciation on this leaves quite a bit to be desired. Quote
athena1277 Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 That also means payments don’t have to be made on unsubsidized federal student loans, right? Oldest dd is a college freshman with the unsub loans. So far we have had to pay on the interest, making it more like the subsidized loans she didn’t qualify for. Quote
