ShepCarlin Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 It's finally here...we are graduating our oldest in May. I keep thinking I am forgetting something so I'm posting here what we are doing so if someone sees a glaring hole or something that they've done that was a nice touch, I'd love to hear about it. We are planning on a family celebration here at the house. Short speech by dad (I know I'll cry, I wish I could speak but I get choked up just thinking about it), presentation of diploma and then food & drinks to celebrate. I have: a cap & gown with honor cords and Eagle scout cords ordered his diploma this morning will send out evites to family later this week a slide show of homeschool trips, science experiments, etc. planned for simple party food...sandwich trays, veggie and cheese trays with a Costco cake That's it. He doesn't want a lot of muss and fuss but I want to acknowledge his achievements and have closure on this chapter of his life. I still haven't scheduled his senior pictures because I am horrible at that kind of thing and he really, really doesn't want them but I would. It may be a last minute trip to the park with his 35mm. 11 Quote

Lilaclady Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Seems like you have a nice setup. All the best and congratulations!!!! Maybe if he is interested, get a book of congratulations that guests can sign and write good thoughts, wishes etc for him as something to remember. Will there be games or something for guests to do? 2 Quote
Lori D. Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 (edited) Congrats! Sounds like your celebration is just right for everyone. Have fun! 😄 Edited April 5, 2022 by Lori D. 1 Quote
ShepCarlin Posted April 5, 2022 Author Posted April 5, 2022 @Lilaclady- a book of congratulations sound like a good idea! Think I will add that to the mix. Not planning on games or anything, it is a small gathering of just close friends and family. We all haven't been together much due to COVID so I think there will be a lot to talk about. 1 Quote
