I am trying to figure out a tax detail and am not finding the information I need. I was hoping someone here might know the answer.

I divorced in 2021 so this is my first-time doing taxes since I was a teen. It is all pretty straight forward using Turbotax except for this one thing.

I got a form 6475 in the mail in my name. I also got one with "my name For dd15".  I am legally dd15s guardian, she is biologically my great-niece. She has been with my since she was a baby, so she is not a new addition to my family. We have always claimed her as dependent. I am not sure if everyone is getting this for their dependents as well, or if maybe it is because she has SSI.  Mine says $2100, hers says $1400. (I assume my x also got one for 2100). I can't see what I actually got in my account, because the money all went to my xh's account due to that being the account on file with the IRS from when we were married.

When I look online, it says if people are married and got one for both spouses, you add the total together. But what about getting it for a dependent? Since they both say my name (but one specifically adds "for DD15") do I add them together? Or am I missing a place where I should have added it to her name. I only remember a section that asked if she got advanced payments, and I said no (We both opted out). When we got the impact payments, the money went to my x, but then he gave me my half.

I logged into the IRS site and it only lists my amount, not hers, under my name. When I do my taxes and just put in my 2100, it says I am eligible for another $700. If I add hers to that amount, I obviously don't get that bump, but then I would be claiming $3500 when it is expecting only $2800. I really don't want to cause a flag on my return. I have full custody of her, so I am the one who will claim her from now on, but we were still married until a year ago today! LOL

I have been searching and reading forums, but no-one else seems to be mentioning getting a 6475 form for a child. Just to confirm, it is indeed a 6475 by the number in the lower corner and it looks the same as mine in formatting.

Any ideas?

I talked to turbotax. They really don't know why there is the discrepancy. They just said, that since both 6475 have my name on them, to add them together and put that number there.   ???? I don't know if this is right or wrong, but I will just do what they say. It feels like I am double claiming her $$, which wipes out the extra $700.  Oh well.
