HOW do places even function when they can't keep track of anything???

I started out the fall semester taking education classes.  One of the classes had the requirement of a classroom practicum.  40 hours, in an elementary classroom.  Great.  I did everything to get situated, putting way too many miles on my car doing a basic background check, a more in depth one with fingerprinting, gave copies of my COVID card, ID card, etc., for the district office.  After two weeks, I was cleared and entered the classroom where I did a similar process at the elementary school itself.

In January, I was given the opportunity to continue the practicum with another 40 hours for another 3 credits, paid for with a grant.  It's going well.  Two weeks ago, as I neared the end of my hours, I wanted to be able to stay with these kids through the end of the year.  I'd been with them since the beginning, so why not?  I put in an application to volunteer.  I was assured it was a simple process of connecting my profile.

The district office does not have my ID on file.  They don't have my background checks on file.  In order to do exactly what I am doing as a volunteer instead of for credit hours, I have to go through the whole process again.  I want to scream.  I don't have the time to run around.  I shouldn't have to for the sole reason that because the two offices that are literally next door to each other: the volunteer coordinator and the district secretary, neither can talk to each other and share information or keep adequate records.  The school has sent over a copy of my ID - twice.

I have sent my regrets to the district office and will be letting the school know.  I'd like to volunteer, but I'm not okay with copies of private information getting lost and unaccounted for.  It makes me so mad for the kids, because they really do benefit from having an extra adult in the classroom.  I just can't give them more when they are not being held accountable for what they have.
