Today is departure day. So, the plan is:
....coffee (DH is at the store now buying more K-cup pods as we drank the whole stash that was here......)
....finish laundry & pack
.....clean/tidy the house so we can leave it (take out trash, run dishwasher, etc.)
....check-out at 11
...head to Cincinnati (stop for Skyline for an early lunch on the way out, per Oldest's request)
....goof off in Cincinnati some until time to meet our Brazil friends
....meet up with them, visit until time to go to the airport
....airport, flight is not until 8:40 pm, layover in Chicago late, arrive back in Houston at midnight-ish, drive home, collapse in bed

Prayer requests for today, pretty please:
....DH to be awake/alert with the whole day of driving (or un-stubborn enough to let me take a turn as needed)
....Oldest requests prayers it not be awkward/more awkward for him than others when we see the friends; social settings are his biggest struggle still
....safe travels all the way home (and we make our connection in Chicago.....)

@TheReader Praying for safe travel and that your dh would be enjoyable/not stubborn.

This week is kinda crazy. But most of our weeks tend to be. My daughter brought 4 of her friends home for spring break on Saturday and none of them have been to Texas, most have not been out of Indiana. We have had a blast. Half of them are gluten free, so hubby has been baking up a storm and everything has tasted so good: brownies, cookies, pizza dough, etc.  Today we will try his homemade hamburger buns.  They all wanted to go to church, and enjoyed it. They have done some fun photo shoots in our downtown because it is fun with tons of cool architectural features. Yesterday they went to a park and then went to Cavender's and all bought Cowboy hats.  ( LOL, I don't own one...many Texans don't.) Today we are having fun at our farm.  They all want to shoot guns and we have a shooting range on our place, so they are going to use my daughter's pink shotgun to shoot clay pigeons and try some of the closer targets. We are grilling hamburgers by the pond.  We will take them on a hayride or use the four wheeler to take them around the place.

I will be helping hubby pack for Ecuador. He leaves tomorrow to go to his mom's and leaves early Thursday and will be gone a little over a week.

Tomorrow I take them to Dallas. Not sure what they will do during the day, but we are seeing Come From Away at night. ( Most of them are musical theater majors. Two are music business.) Thursday is downtime. Maybe more pictures on our place or downtown. ( One of them is building a photography business.)

Friday, we are spending the day in Fort Worth at the Stockyards and going to the rodeo at night. That was the one thing they all requested to do is see a rodeo. LOL. Saturday they are chillin. Then they drive the long way back to Indiana on Sunday.

If I have time today, (like now before they get up), I may work on my YouTube script  and my book club, my last two assignments ever for seminary. I started Gilead. I have American Born Chinese, Half of a Yellow Sun, and Under the Unpredictable Planet and then I will be through with reading for seminary as well.  Though honestly, I can skip a couple of those and a couple of classes since I am only taking it for 2 hours. But I love reading and discussing literature, so I will probably do it anyway. But if mom has a crisis, then I have an out.

Praying for your requests. And tell Oldest, that people who are shy are often much more comfortable with other shy folks, so any awkwardness is not seen as anything bad except by the dimmest, rudest people.

Happy Friday eve eve eve!

I didn't really do any work since 6pm yesterday.  I decided to lie down a bit and slept until about 10, then spent some time with the pup and kids, got them to bed, and was at my computer until maybe 2am?  3am?  Then took a "nap" that became serial snoozing all night long.  Again.

Sigh.  This is one thing I really need to change about myself.

I do think I got enough sleep in between all that.  As for my work, well, it's still there for me to do.  Faithfully.

Today I have at least 2 client conference calls, need to drive to a zoo in the next county to drop off my kid's application (between 10 and 3:30), need to drive both kids to/from p.m. sports, and have a ton of client work to do.

Done:

  • In the wee hours - scanned, emailed my kid's zoo app, got it ready to hand over in hard copy, probably a little client work & a little putzing.
  • Slept and woke....
  • Cleaned my kid's baking mess in the kitchen.  Wow is she messy.
  • Kids to school baaaarely on time.  Ugh.  Only 2 more mornings until spring break.
  • Wordle, nerdle, quordle.
  • Caught up on emails, news, calendar, social media, and electronic school stuff.
  • Working on coffee 1.

To do:

  • Set up to work downstairs?
  • Pup stuff.
  • More coffee.
  • Lots of client work.
  • Eat fruit and veggie, take vitamins, drink water.
  • Maybe sneak some cleaning and laundry into work breaks?
  • Need to drive to that zoo at some point in the middle of the work day.  Might sneak out about 2pm to theoretically pick up my kid and work it in there.  3:30 is too tight to go after dropping my kid at the barn, though that would be more efficient.
  • Kid2 to horse riding.
  • Pick up Kid1 from track.
  • Pick up Kid2 from horse riding.
  • Yoga etc.
  • Reading.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Catch up on some parenting videos? ✔️

Dinner is corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes.  Tomorrow and Thursday are too busy to make this dinner, so tonight it is. I haven't cooked this in several years.

@TheReader, praying all the situations in your requests are going well!

@TexasProud, sounds like such a good week for those girls!

@history-fan, I've started episode 7. My sister has finished it all and loved it. She wants to come up here later this week and watch the last few episodes with me. I think I'll stop after 7 and we'll watch 8-10 together. I picked up the first book from our local library so I could start reading and see what I think.

The 3rd grader is not coming today. Gas is so high that I think it's a bit challenging. We tried to do a Zoom session once, and they had a lot of trouble figuring how to connect and get audio and visual on it.

We had dinner. It was a new recipe in the crock pot. We liked it and liked that it was something different!

I've started on reorganizing some of the office, mainly all my school books.

I need to do some grading before tomorrow's classes and look at tomorrow's lessons. I didn't have that on the list.

Rough evening here.

Dinner was not very good. My burner doesn’t heat evenly sometimes and it boiled the corned beef, so it’s tough. Veggies were ok.

Dd is having big time struggles with a paper. Praying peeps, please pray for speed in getting words on paper.

Ds is struggling with math and doesn’t like to receive help or correction.

About to leave with Dd for a meeting. Later, grocery.

eta: The sky is not falling. 😉 We managed to eat the dinner. Dd’s meeting was good. Nixed the grocery - too late.

Dd is getting some non-paper schoolwork done.  I got a snack and some tea. Gonna listen to a podcast, then read.

Apparently I posted a rant on the Monday thread earlier today.  😛  Well it's that kind of week here.

I wanna nap, but I got told off for napping, so I'm trying to stay up at least until midnight or so.  And I have to give my kid her pill.  She's still doing homework, I believe.  My kids have such nice lenient teachers, they can get away with turning in late work all the time, but now it's all piled up with the quarter ending this Thursday.  Kid2 plowed through it all, but Kid1 takes longer to finish things.  Kid1 has the better work ethic; she'll write 3x as much for every answer compared to Kid1; but that makes for a lot of late nights.

My big accomplishment for the day was getting my kid's application down to the 2nd zoo in time.  Not sure it will have any tangible benefit, but it's satisfying for me.  😛  That and cleaning the kitchen after my kid trashed it last night.

I probably got a hundred substantive emails today.  Besides reading / responding / filing these, I reviewed 4 tax returns, engaged tax reporting for a new entity, followed up on late invoices, participated in 2 conference calls, corresponded re 2 audits, and troubleshot a government website glitch.  Between that and the kid, pup, and household stuff, I feel like I had a pretty full day.  But my work inbox is currently at 71 items.  I'm still hoping to chip some away tonight ... but my clients and their lawyers are still up exchanging emails about the transactions I need to report, so ....
