TJWinMA Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations for an art curriculum suitable to grades 1-2 (to build art skills, and not an art appreciation program). We've tried ARTistic Pursuits, but it has not at all been a hit. We've unfortunately really dropped the ball with art this year, so I'm hoping to find something to inspire us a bit. As always, many thanks for your recommendations... Quote
Slache Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 For crafts Home Art Studio, for Drawing Mark Kistler for purchase or on youtube. Here is the playlist we love: Quote
alpinegrace Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 We’ve enjoyed Art for Kids Hub on YouTube. It’s basically a dad who does directed drawings with his kids.. who range in age so you get a range of abilities. It’s simple, but his style is very popular right now. Fun, simple, and quick, which is pretty much what we can do right now too. Quote

mathmarm Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 The Drawing Textbook all the way! It's a simple, cheap, affordable drawing curriculum. It doesn't cover anything besides drawing, but it teaches 3-D drawing very strategically and systematically. We've been very happy with it. Mark Kistlers Draw Squad is a revised, updated edition of The Drawing Textbook. 🙂 Quote
jboo Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 (edited) I've used both "Art With A Purpose" and "Draw Write Now" and enjoyed them, though they're both quite different programs. Art With A Purpose is a more typical, overarching art curriculum, that does multiple types of art projects, in a convenient format, with gradual increases in complexity. Draw Write Now doesn't really build on itself, but IMHO is an enjoyable guide to drawing. (Also, while Art With A Purpose requires some limited occasional handholding and assembly of supplies, DWN is something to shove towards a child and say, "Pick a couple pages to do, and let me know when you are finished.") AnneGG Posted March 20, 2022 Posted March 20, 2022 We use the Let’s Make Art channel on YouTube. She also has a subscription art box. We like a lot of Waldorf ish type crafts. Paper stars, building stuff out of nature finds, form drawing, beeswax candle making, peg doll making, etc. 3 Quote
Maryb17 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Are the dvds and pdfs for the art studio at home still available? I am intrigued by the program, my kids would love it. But If I purchased a secondhand dvd would the pdf lesson plans stilL be available? Looks like the website isn’t there anymore. Quote

Brooke Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) We have a monthly subscription for https://www.soulsparklettes.com/ It’s perfect for us because I do not have enough knowledge to teach art. She even has video lessons as well. So far everything we have tried has been excellent and easy to implement. Right now there is a wait list for the glitter bomb membership but I believe she has open enrollment stating in January. Edited September 20 by Brooke Fixed website link Quote
