Good morning!

I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep, but I'm up in time to see it snowing! We have maybe a couple of inches, the most we've had all winter. There has always been the potential for good snows here, but this winter hasn't produced much.

It's dd's birthday, and she wanted to come down this afternoon for lunch and to play board games. I'm not sure what this will mean for the road conditions.

  • stay quiet to not wake everyone else up
  • medicine
  • coffee
  • meals
  • maybe play games if dd can come down
  • tidy house
  • laundry
  • finish lesson plans
  • meal plan and grocery list
  • watch more Last Kingdom

-tidy rooms

-movie time with family

-plan for school next week

Good morning, all! My computer mouse died, so I'm not reacting to posts on here (I detest using the touchpad and struggle with it), but know I'm reading along and cheering you all on your days.

Amy, I hope your dd can get down for her bday!

We had snow yesterday, which my dear friend insists is lovely. Ha! this Texas girl who became a tropical girl after Brazil does not love the cold. Today is sunny, but colder (in the teens). I have added a layer.

Today's plan is to go to Amish country. We will visit a quilt shop or two, a furniture store, a hardware store she says we need to see, buy cheese, eat at a fun Amish restaurant, etc. The kids are all hanging out at her house playing D&D in person for a change (the 2 who moved away join our crew online for their sessions, which has been great, but having all the old gang together in person is of course even better and they are ecstatic; my friend made all "roll" food, since there is so much rolling (of dice) in D&D. LOL! Love it! (well, made/bought, all the junk food items, etc.; everything is a "roll" of some sort).

Yesterday was lovely - we had brunch at a cute diner, hung out at her house, had the driving tour of the interesting/historical sites in the county, stopped at a candy store for homemade chocolates, hung out at her house more, and then the grown-ups went and met my friend's parents, who are lovely. Her mom gave me a copy of the family cookbook, and was genuinely a little disappointed we didn't choose to stay with them (they did offer, at the last minute, but we'd already reserved the AirBnB, and much of my family would not have enjoyed staying with people we don't know, no matter how lovely and wonderful they are). It was too sweet; I'm so glad we went and visited with them.

So, now to get everyone up and ready so we are not running too too late for getting started on our trip over to Amish country. Have a good day everyone!

It snowed last night, but not enough to even tell it this morning. It was pretty, though. Today's plan:

More coffee-done

Burial for dh's aunt-dreading it because it's so cold-done

Laundry

Clean the bathrooms-done

Clean the floors-done

Cook-done

Work in my classroom

This is a short list, but some of it will take up several hours. If I can accomplish all this, I will be satisfied.

Snow here too, about 3”, but the roads are fine. Our street is dry and the sun is out. We are having a leisurely morning and that is nice. I slept long and deeply last night after a busy, stressful week.

Today:
Grocery and meal planning ✔️
Electronic chores
Meeting - some prep for this ✔️
Dd to/from dance ✔️

Dinner will be chx fajitas.

Enjoy the day, y’all!

Good morning, all!

The wind has stopped, now it's starting to warm up again.  It was a long week, so looking forward to unwinding a bit.

To do:

  • waiting on word to see if I can get in for a haircut (haven't cut it since Covid shutdown)
  • coffee
  • take books back to library
  • pedicure
  • drop donation bag at Goodwill
  • lesson plan for week, create digital journal for students
  • find a new keto crockpot recipe or two for next week
  • experiment with a power nap (would like to put it into my midday routine)
  • pay bills
  • read, relax
  • not sure about dinner yet, quick market trip to decide

Have a great day!

@TheReader, so glad you are having a great trip! We have never visited Amish country. Maybe that should be part of a trip this summer!

Dd is on her way down. She waited for the snow to start clearing, which is happening quickly now.

I worked on the rest of the lesson plans for the week.

I got a text from someone interested in SAT tutoring. I'm excited that word is getting out, but I wish it had happened during basketball season when dh was more busy and I was alone more! We are thankful, either way.

Howdie, happy Saturday!

I'm not sure why, but it feels like the kind of day for taking stock, organizing, catching up on things just for me, and pacing myself.  This contrasts sharply with the reality that I have tons of urgent work to do.  However, maybe I can chip away at it methodically and peacefully, since clients are not bothering me?

Done:

  • Slept a normal night!  Wow and yay!
  • Kid2 to horse riding and back.
  • Quick grocery stop.
  • Cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms.
  • Pup duty until about 2pm.
  • Ate fruits and a salad, took my vitamins.
  • Wordle, nerdle, and quordle.
  • Caught up on emails, news, calendar, social media, and online school stuff.
  • Various small client work tasks.

To do:

  • Lots of client work.
    • Review and give feedback on 10 draft audits and 2 draft tax returns.
    • Fulfill various auditors' requests.
    • Make serious progress on data entry for 10 transactions.
    • Review, respond to, and file various legal documents.
    • Complete quarterly bank recs for a client and send them out.
    • If the above get done, work on the billing/collections issue I've been postponing.
    • Various other small items on my to-do list.
  • Clean my room.
  • "Yoga, etc."
  • Reading - enough to make up for skipping this much of the past week.
  • Work with kid to write an essay about why she qualifies for a competitive summer volunteer position.
  • Catch up on the laundry.
  • Get things ready for kids' Sunday morning lifeguard training.
  • Night pup duty.
  • Whatever else gets done.

7CgĹGood morning! I woke up at 2:45 am and it was still snowing but went back to sleep after taking bedtime meds

Dh and I made a tasty breakfast of French Toast and bacon.  (I am in charge of bacon)

Then dd1 and dsil1 came over, got enough snow off our car so we could go to the St Patrick's day parade.

Then home to rest and watched and played along w these great short comedic quiz games on Fox Nation that we get for free and watch quiz shows and Cops.

Then we went to the base library where I got books I need for book clubs.  Then exchange for better prices for make up snd over the counter meds.

Now getting frosted lemonade at Chik Fil A cause Medrol hit my tongue.

To do

Help dh get something for St Patrick's Day to wear ( he is leading a caving trip that day)

Look up dining place scores

Vacation stuff

Help dh make dinner

Read book club books

Snow this morning, maybe an inch or two? Very cold and windy now.

Spoke to my boss about this week. I am a frustrated crier and I won't apologize for that. But we talked about some of the things that are piling up that are making it difficult to do my job-- the new person not making an effort to ask me questions when we're talking or do some work on her own to look for an answer. I do need to be more aware that she's apparently quite computer illiterate (even after 20 yrs at the institution using the same programs, but it is what it is). We also mentioned that the other part of the team is getting political with each other, but it really affects all of us (which she's noticed) because then they get obstructionist. And then she said she hoped I knew I was doing an amazing job, and I told her that I knew it was stupid but that I didn't know what that meant, because I show up and do my job and be who I am and do things the way I do them and it doesn't seem exceptional to me. So she told me about some of the things that apparently are different about the way I work and that I should not belittle my self and own that more. And then we are going to talk more about everything I have going on and what's coming. And she said I should think about taking some time off. So I might look at our art museum and see if there's anything now/soon to go see specific. (But go anyway, we have 2 good ones in the city)

Fish for dinner, need to finish a chapter for school tonight. Read some more of my book.

🐢 For luck. Daylight savings tonight!

Ds1 came over and we went out to lunch.  There is a huge country music concert/Tim McGraw at a venue up the road.  Our cell service has been knocked out because of the sheer volume of people.  We can text, but not make/receive calls.  I called my mom's care center, gave them my Google voice number as that is working through our wifi.

FAFSA is filed, finally.  Very happy to get that checked off our list.  Dd was having access issues.  I am halfway through the paper pile on the dining room table.  Going through this much paperwork is not for the faint of heart.

I guess the good news is, we can sit out back and get a free concert this evening.  Casting Crowns was here awhile back, heard every song.

@plaidpants, good for your boss telling you not to belittle yourself! We should all give ourselves some grace!

@TravelingChris, we had bacon and the famous baked oatmeal from the board. That was for lunch. We got Taco Bell for dinner.

@readinmom, sorry about the cell service, but at least you get the concert benefit!

We played Wingspan, 7 Wonders, Sushi Go, and Castles of Burgundy! My kind of day.

My sister just started watching Season 5 of Last Kingdom, so I want to talk to her tomorrow about how far she is.

Well, I didn't do all the client work I planned, but I did do some.  I will probably work one more hour tonight to clear a couple more emails / to-do's.

I did do some good stuff:

  • Cleaned my bedroom, including some reorganizing / decluttering / clearing/prioritizing personal to-do's.
  • Also did some decluttering / purging in my kid's bedroom and the kids' bathroom.
  • Yoga, etc:  I did 2 repetitions spaced a couple hours apart.
  • Read a couple chapters, will read some more before sleeping.
  • I watched a video recommended by my chiropractor regarding muscles and posture.
  • Went online to sign up for organ donation.  Discovered I already did that in 2015, but at least it's not on my to-do list any more.  😛
  • Signed my kid up for driving school!
  • Did the online surveys needed to score $75 off future stuff at the armory.  Looked into what training we might do next there.
  • Various other small things.

Decided to leave the kid's essay and the laundry for tomorrow.  Better they get some sleep tonight before their 8am class.
