saraha Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I am looking for regular alarm clock recommendations. I have looked at amazon but the reviews for them are all over the place. I see lots of reviews for alarm clocks that are glowing, then they will have a bunch of one stars for not lasting more than three months. So in a way I can't really trust the reviews. I would prefer it not be "smart" just a good old trust alarm clock. Thanks! Quote
Corraleno Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 (edited) I bought 2 of these clocks 6 years ago and have never had an issue with either of them (I have one and DS has the other). I like it because there's no distracting light at night, but there's a large button on the top you can push that lights up the screen and the numbers are large enough that it's easy to see the time without glasses. I suppose it's always possible to get a lemon, but these have worked great for me. Edited February 10, 2022 by Corraleno link 1 Quote
kbutton Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 We haven't had it long, but we really like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GW5BZ1G?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1 It is dimmable if that matters. Note that the color of the lights is different depending on what color housing you choose--I see some colors better than others. My only complaint is that the screen is beveled, so at certain angles, I can't see it when the light is dimmed. It's not on my side of the bed though, which is the bigger reason for that problem. 1 Quote
J-rap Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 I got this Sharper Image alarm clock for my dh for a birthday present and he really likes it. It feels very sturdy. If you push the top of it it lights up. It also shows the day and temp, and is supposed to automatically change time when you change time zones. https://www.sharperimage.com/view/product/Travel+Alarm+Clock/205895?Keyword=travel+alarm+clock&adpos=&cm_mmc=CPC-_-Google-_-Sleep+Solutions-_-travel+alarm+clock&creative=406619277259&creative=406619277259&device=c&gclid=Cj0KCQiAr5iQBhCsARIsAPcwRONTCx2kt2N9Kpof8SztmmBafIQb07I24F5_z926IXhzgz8Ox9GztGEaAlEcEALw_wcB&matchtype=e&mkwid=GWlMWTZF|pkw|travel+alarm+clock|pcrid|406619277259|pmt|e|pdv|c|slid||productid||pgrid%3D21087356183&network=g&ptaid=kwd-38354570&utm_campaign=Sleep+Solutions&utm_medium=CPC&utm_source=Google 1 Quote
Miss Tick Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Two of my dc have had these flip on/off alarms for 2 years now. They are battery powered with 5 minute snooze. As no nonsense as you can get. One complaint is that the phone ringing sound on the Sims is the same tone. So apparently playing the Sims can get a bit stressful when they get a phone call and your body reacts like it is the wake up alarm. 😂 Also, I'm not sure there is anything that will reliably get a teenage boy out of bed, so I'm not blaming that on the alarm clock. 1 Quote
