Good morning! Frosty and sunny here. But spring is coming! I saw bluebirds nest-building in my boxes this morning!

I’ve had coffee and b’fast and dropped Ds at school.

Tutor 4 students and log sessions.

Meal plan and make a grocery list.

Dinner is ….?

Howdy, happy Monday!  It's relatively sunny and above freezing for now, so not bad for February.

I still have client work that I meant to do over the weekend.  Not a great way to start the week, but not unusual for me if we're honest.

I was teased that I'd have the house to myself this morning.  Ha!  Not really, but it's quiet at least.

Oh and I was just informed that a certain long-term employee is resigning in a couple weeks.  That's gonna get interesting.  She didn't do a ton for my clients, but I may end up inheriting some of her work until we get a replacement.  OK ... this could be an opportunity rather than a problem ... but is it stressful?  Yes it is.

Done:

  • Kids up and driven to school.  One kid made us late by forgetting her socks and having to go back.  How you forget your socks on a winter morning is a mystery I may never solve.  Oh well, she will have to pay the other kid for making her late ... and hopefully her chemistry teacher gave her a frown or a scolding.
  • Mailed some client tax stuff.
  • Some kitchen cleaning and pup stuff.
  • Set up to work downstairs; caught up on emails, news, calendar, social media, and electronic school stuff.
  • Wordle.  (I also started Nerdle last night ... I can't do another one until later.  I will probably skip today so I can start doing them both in the mornings.)
  • Got my car and the driveway ready for my older, limping housemate to go to a funeral.
  • "Fixed" a problem with my old winter coat.  I kinda broke a part but ... it's old.  I needed to do some sewing on it anyway.
  • Ate an orange and ... a slice of cake.  😕  Why is cake so tasty?
  • Did a bit of client work.
  • Working on coffee 2.

To do:

  • Lots of client work.
    • Complete the audit/tax packages for 16 client entities (my hardest ones of course).
    • Respond to other audit inquiries.
    • Resolve questions about some government filings.  Complete the filing(s) that are ready.
    • Prepare analyses for at least one upcoming transaction.
    • Whatever else comes up or whatever I have time for, including filing.
  • Pup duty most of the day.
  • Read at least a fifth of my current nonfiction book + some spiritual/religious reading.
  • "Yoga etc."
  • Some more cleaning ... wouldn't it be nice to have a clean house just once?
  • Pick up the kids & get them to handle their responsibilities.  Hopefully go over some pending things with them.
  • Two or three health related phone calls.
  • Personal filing etc.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Hi all!

Work work work today and an exam tonight.

Clicking through things and trying to keep my self out of it. Some good, some bad, trying for neutral.

Need to do my taxes. Cleaning up my room in between work tasks. I figure it's an analogue for coffee breaks, etc.

No idea what's for dinner. Possibly left over hot dogs for lunch.

Got one big report out.  It was way harder than I expected.  Though that could be because, in between people coming and going, my pup was going nuts over the squirrels and deer in our yard.  It was too hard to concentrate.  Finally we went out and scared the squirrels and deer away, so it's quiet for now.

I had a whole 1 minute "home alone" (not counting the pup).  Though I've been the only human downstairs most of the day.  Housemate2 went up to change & get her computer like a half hour ago.

I am hoping for a chance to make some private phone calls from my bedroom before picking up the kids.  We'll see.

I was just informed of another stressful work thing.  I'm not going to say what it is, and hopefully it's not about me, but it will probably mean more work for me.

Retirement sounds better and better every day.

Same. 30 something years left, if ever.

I'm not saying that I'm going to just start screaming the next time I log on to a certain project's meeting, I'm just saying I've thought about it.

Ugg..trying to get through Beloved and wish I could say how traumatizing this book is. I mean, I get it is a classic but the f word, rape, sex with animals, slave brutality, ...  Just not what I would choose to read EVER and is making it hard for me to sleep.

I miss my happy books, but the problem is I hate fluffy books like romances and poorly written crap.  This is beautifully written, but I wish I had something more positive to counteract it. And I am only on page 90 something. I have so, so much left to read.  I am half wondering if I should just read Sparks Notes, thought that would be cheating, I guess. But it would make it so I could discuss it in class. I really, really dislike this book.

I got a second big report out before picking the kids up.

After coming back home, I fell asleep.  I slept for maybe 2 hours, which was way too long.  Oops.

Back to work!

I barely started it and punted.  Nope, nope, nope. Cannot put that into my mind.  I'd punt!

I know your time and energy are super-limited, but there are lots of well written books that are not dreary, horrifically violent, full of graphic sex, awful language etc. Can you choose something else to read or listen to before you go to bed?

Dinner is leftovers/scavenger night. I had leftover lasagna and salad. Ds ate chx tenders and potato casserole.

Next up: meal planning and grocery list making.
Later:  Catch up on poetry podcasts and read. Fluffy stuff right now, Agatha Christie.
Need to think about tomorrow and plan it out in my mind.

@TexasProud, that sounds awful! I'm sorry it was assigned.

@Brittany1116, I always loved surprising my kids with days off school. Enjoy!

@SKL and @plaidpants, retirement does sound nice. I'm not sure if we'll ever have enough to truly retire, but if dh stays in the school system 5.5 more years, we could keep the insurance. I hope I'll be making more by then and that maybe he could work in a smaller school or something less stressful. I wish we had thought of it more when we were younger, but we did what we felt we were supposed to do, so I'm hoping it all works out in the end.

Made and had dinner with dh

did a lot of work on the kitchen

Forgot to put in my list that I was calling to make dd a primary care appointment. I did get her one if the date works for her. We'll see.

I found out I can go see a church space tomorrow that I can use for classes.

Took my snow man collection off my new sideboard in the breakfast nook (still need to pack them away), and I put some new items I found at Target.

Draining day at work today. Came home made a Greek pasta salad for supper.

I'm debating emailing a potential job contact...I'm not due to follow up with her until next week...but I had another thought and would be open to part time too. I just don't want to sound too desperate so that's where the hold up comes in.

We are firming up plans to have some friends over this weekend, so that will be refreshing. Menu in progress: Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, roasted broccoli and lingonberry jam. They will bring dessert. I might have an appetizer on hand just in case we get the munchies.

Planning ahead: Tuesday-pick up library books after work. Wednesday-late pick up for quiz bowl. Thursday-late pick up for quiz bowl, grocery pick up.

Friday-color added to my tattoo! I took the day off work.

Had a nice quiet two hours unwinding. Dh barges in, abruptly begins telling me something stressful and unpleasant, then storms off when I react negatively to what he said.

Now I need to spend another 90+ minutes unwinding all over again so that I can go to sleep.

🙁😠

Well, I sent out 3 more audit packages and some other things.  I'm fried.  Should I take a power nap or just sleep like normal people and get back to it after driving my kids to school?

Been trying so hard to keep my emails under control, but colleagues have reassigned a bunch of work to me and are emailing all sorts of things.  Ugh.
