gardenmom5 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 We let him out of his carrier on the car ride home. He snuggled up to 2ds and was even purring as he petted him. He was starving - and I still have to go buy the urinary care food. I got some poultry, and added about the same amount of water so it was very soup-like. The fountain came - he just stares at it . . . I ordered another one that also had "pools" under each spout. I have at least half a dozen different drugs (pain meds, anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, more pain meds . . . ) - and no follow-up instructions. "oh, they'll email you" . . . . I plan on giving them a little bit more time before I call and say "I need follow-up instructions!". He actually took a nap on me! this cat doesn't like to be held (likes to be nearby, but no touchy). . . I'm hopeful it will change, and he'll realize he's safe with his family. oh - and the tech quoted me the $3076+ bill wanting to know if she could use the cc I paid for the emergency appointment with . . . (the rescue is paying. - so why are you picking him up?. She confirmed I gave her the correct information.) But I want to give a shout out to Emerald City Rescue. Bless them and their generosity for sending him back to us. I'm encouraging dudeling to write the thank you letter. Lots of shaved spots. Three legs, the top of his rump at the base of his tail . . . 21 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted February 3, 2022 Author Posted February 3, 2022 Earlier - I gave him some very watered down duck (texure of wet applesauce) - not urine care, as I still needed to go to teh store.) - he was very hungry and ended up eating the entire can (at least he got a lot of water.) he just stares at the fountain . . . . I ended up putting some tuna water in a dish, and diluted it with more water. He immediately ran over and started lapping it up. Then, no food appeared he glared over at me wanting to know where the food was. That urine care chicken stew in the other dish wasn't cutting it. . . . Then he'd dip his paw in the tuna water/water - lick, dip . . . repeat. . . . and look over at me, wanting to know where the food was. . . . It's not like I hadn't just shoved four drugs down his mouth. (growl, growl, swallow, growl, spit -it -out, growl . . ..) Quote

Kristen, is this the rescue? www.emeraldcitypetrescue.org/ I believe so. 40 minutes ago, KSera said: Wondering the same, and do we know kitty’s name? He's our cat - he's not on their website. His name is Arcturus Boötes. The rescue said they didn't have any foster space, and asked if we would like to take him home with us when he was released from the vet hospital if they paid his medical bills. (and assuming we would give him the required follow-up care.) I had called the vet ER and asked if I could bring the boys by to say "goodbye" (since everything had happened so fast). The vet said no. Then I asked if I could get a message to the rescue and ask them if I could bring them by to say goodbye. And on the surrender paperwork I had put down it was the medical bills that was the reason why we were surrendering him to the rescue (and they came out higher than expected.) Late monday morning I got a call from the vet, that the rescue offered to pay the bills and we could take him home. Such timing - I was washing his dishes and crying when they called. 5 1 Quote

wintermom Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 I'm so happy for your family, including the cat! 😊 We lost our beloved cat in similar circumstances. We couldn't afford the vet bills and didn't even think of a rescue. 1 2 Quote

We couldn't afford the vet bills and didn't even think of a rescue. The ER Vet suggested it. She presented it as one of my three options. enormous vet bill, surrender to a rescue, or euthanasia. enormous vet bill was out, and surrendering to a rescue at least gave him a chance. So I chose that one, even though I expected to never see him again. Edited February 3, 2022 by gardenmom5 5 Quote
