Catwoman Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Ok, it was me. I put a little water on to boil and then the Instacart person started sending me about a bazillion messages with questions about just about every item in my order, and... I forgot about the pan, and the water boiled away and the pan is a burnt mess. It's one of my All-Clads and I use it every day, so I would hate to have to throw it away, but I can't get the burns out of it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I already tried boiling white vinegar in it. I tried the thing where you add a cup of baking soda to the vinegar after it has set for a little while. I tried scrubbing it with the baking soda. It looks a little better, but not by much. 😞 Any ideas? I really like that stupid little pan and I'm so mad at myself! 3 Quote

fairfarmhand Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I use bar keepers friend and an SOS pad. It takes a few days but eventually I can get it out. 4 1 Quote
marbel Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Yep to BKF. I once forgot about some blueberries I was cooking down to make syrup. Ugh was that a mess. My husband and BKF restored my pan to me. 1 1 Quote
LuvToRead Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Another vote for Bar Keeper's Friend! I would also use a Scrub Daddy too. 1 Quote

Danae Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Came in to say Bar Keeper’s Friend. I see it may have already been mentioned. 🙂 2 2 Quote
Melissa in Australia Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I did this once. Dh made a little tool by attaching steelwool to a piece of dowl. Then putting the dowl in a drill and polishing the saucepan. It was as good as new when he finished. He said it was a polishing tool and used on metalwork all the time. He is a toolmaker by trade. 5 Quote
mathnerd Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I did this to my favorite All-Clad as well. Barkeeper's friend a few times and then the Liquid Barkeeper's friend a few times and spreading a paste of baking soda and letting it sit overnight and washing made it as good as new. All-Clads are good at bearing a fair amount of abuse as I have found out over the years! Hope it works out! Quote
KungFuPanda Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I'd try an overnight soak with ammonia with the lid on. If that didn't work, I'd try oven cleaner next. 1 Quote
Tap Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Barkeepers friend is great but sometimes, I just start using the pan again and over time, the discoloration goes away. 2 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 If all else fails . . . I wonder if you could try naval jelly. It's made for removing rust from cast iron. but if the choice is between throwing it away and trying it, it wouldn't make it any worse. Oven cleaner? Quote

I don't have All-Clad, but I have done similarly with my biggest pot. I just make sure I use it for dishes with high liquid content, like soups. And after I have tried scrubbing. Quote

Oh, shizzle, I have a pan I have been too lazy to restore (I did try, I've been too lazy to try again) so this sounds perfect! 1 Quote
Kebo Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Simmering hydrogen peroxide for 15 minutes is supposed to work well for burnt pans. I’ve also had good results from soaking a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda for a couple of days then scrubbing with barkeeper’s friend. Quote
