Faith-manor Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 So I am not creative with fruit. Never have been. I see these berries on Misfits, and am curious but if I bought them, don't have a clue what to do with them or if we would even like them. What do all of you do with them? What is there taste and texture similar to? Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Are we talking fresh or dried? I've only ever had the dried goji berries. They are supposedly a super food with a lot of antioxidants. They kind of remind me of craisins...a bit sweet, a bit sour. They should be a bit chewy but also soft. I've had some really dry almost hard ones before---that's stale, iykwim. I like them in granola, or in muffins. I didn't like them on salad. Quote
Arcadia Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) I have a goji berry plant so I do eat them freshly plucked. They taste sweet with a slight sour undertone. Dried goji berries are use as herbs. We put a spoonful into soups. ETA: taken in September. Now the plant is hibernating Edited January 27, 2022 by Arcadia 2 Quote
mathnerd Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 I put them as salad toppings. I have seen my friend make a beverage with dried goji berries but it is a little bitter for my taste. Many Asian cuisines use the leaves sautéed in dishes, though I am not familiar with recipes! Quote
Faith-manor Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 Olay, thanks. Dh likes dried cranberries on his salads so I thought these might be a fun change, but wasn't sure really what to expect. The Hive always knows!! Quote
