My ADHD kiddo has now lost both of his Happy Masks, which are out of stock until March, and both of his Adidas sports masks, which are no longer made. <sob>  The university has a mask mandate and he has to wear one even when training/competing 20+ hours/week. He's 6'7" with a very large head, and the large Happy Masks fit him ok, but the medium Happy Mask (average adult size) goes below his nose as soon as he opens his mouth to speak. I need to order some large KN95s (or equivalent) ASAP as he is currently wearing the cheap blue surgical-type masks they give out for free, which are not adequate for someone with super high exposure every day. Help?

The biggest KF94s I know are the BOTN and the LG Airwasher. I can come back in a few with links. I’m not sure if they have restocked lately, though I know BOTN did at be healthy over the weekend

The link I just added is BOTN. It's the only noon fabric mask he'll wear. They only have white right now.

The LG Airwasher XL has been hard to find lately, but if you ever see any, they are just like the BOTN, but a tiny smidge bigger and without the weak point where the ear loops sometimes rip through on the BOTN. It he likes the BOTN, he should also like the Airwasher.

This is the LG Airwasher, but sure enough, out of stock right now: https://kollecteusa.com/products/lg생활건강?_pos=2&_sid=a071657c6&_ss=r

Everyone in our house wears a Large Happy Mask because they let us talk while still staying in place, and we have found that Bluna Facefit Large are a great size for all of us, plus the fit around the mouth is adjustable. They are boat style.

Dh sounds similarly built. The BOTN xl have been the only things that fit so far other than the cup design of N95s that you find at Home Depot. They aren’t great for every day wear but if you need a mask today, I would look for: https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Drywall-Sanding-Respirator-20-Pack-8210DB1-A/100321155 (the HDX cup style works too) while you wait for the BOTN to come in.

I have also heard these: https://www.airgami.life/products/max-blue?variant=38000851386551 might fit, but once we found the BOTN XL we stopped looking.

Check out Sonovia masks which are made in Israel. They are made of a special fabric — embedded with nano copper, I think — and are machine washable, good for about 50 washes. Not cheap though.

In the meantime, if he wants to already add an outer layer of protection to his surgical mask, he could consider soaking the outer mask in a salt water solution, allowing it to dry, then wearing that over the surgical mask. Salt masks destroy viruses quickly. A researcher up in Alberta who knows the researcher linked below and who is also researching salt and microbes (in the same building) said in an interview that Covid is destroyed in about six seconds according to his measurements when it comes in contact with crystallized salt. Salt destroys it faster than copper. Your son could use a cheaper, well-fitting salt mask for the outer layer until he gets the better fitting masks.

One recipe for the salt spray:

Can he check with CVS and Walgreens who are supposed to be able to distribute the free federal masks? My hope is that they would have been given more than just one size for distribution.

Ooh! I hadn't thought of that, but it's a great idea!
