1234 Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Ds and his fiancé asked Dh to officiate their wedding. He’s happy to do it but we know nothing. I’ve googled some and it looks like there are several options but I thought I’d ask here first to hopefully avoid any mishaps. So, does anyone here have any experience with this at all? Quote
Danae Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 It depends on your state’s laws, so either check those or tell us which state so we can know if we’ve got relevant info. Some states let anyone register as an officiant, which makes the online thing unnecessary. If he does go with an online organization, especially if it charges money, research a little about the particular group and what they use the money for. 2 Quote
AbcdeDooDah Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 My son did this for my daughter's wedding. It was an online service. He's officiated another wedding for a friend, as well. Everything was legit, no problems at all. 1 Quote
1234 Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 We’re in Indiana but they may get married in CA or IL. So, guess we’d need something okay for any of those states. I haven’t seen where any of those have restrictions to an online ordination. Quote

I think he used the Universal Life Church but I'm not positive. 1 Quote
