Hi everyone,

I homeschooled my kids K-8 and now my oldest two are in high school. While school has in general been great for her, her Spanish class this year has been atrocious (we even got a letter for Q1 saying they weren't going to give a grade because the kids hadn't yet learned anything due to teacher absence).

DD15 hopes to take Spanish online for credit that she can transfer to her high school next year. Of course, she could learn Spanish on her own at some place without accreditation, but she has a lot of classes she wants to take at school and is trying to make some space in her schedule.

Do you know of online Spanish that is accredited by one of the regional accreditors and meets in the afternoon/evening?

Thanks, Emily

Texas Tech's K-12 program has a Spanish class that is accredited.  It's about $400 for the year.

Is it good?  No.  It doesn't meet in person (independent study) and requires recordings to be sent from the student to the teacher for grading.  It's decent, at least decent enough that my language-reluctant kid slid into Spanish 2 at school with no issues.

Maybe Potter's School?  It says that they are regionally accredited (Middle States Atlantic Commission candidate). I am not sure if accreditation agency is important because we have not been in Public School.

Because they serve people all over the world, they might have evening classes.

Unfortunately their subject catalog site seems to be down right now as I post this.

No idea about accreditation, but we were super pleased with Homeschool Spanish Academy and their blend of prescribed curriculum and self pacing (my daughter picked up concepts quickly so they let her move through them faster), and they do have flexible hours.

CLRC is accredited. I had no problem transferring DS’s Russian credit to the public school. Some of their Spanish classes are in the afternoon Pacific time so they may meet your needs?

This is *exactly* what I was looking for. Thanks!

HSA looks great, but its accreditation isn't accepted by my daughter's school. If this were just about learning, that would be my route, but she needs to get credit for it.

Would it be possible to list which accreditations would be acceptable?  Dale Gamache’s synchronous online high school classes (La Clase Divertida) are accepted for NCAA eligibility, and WTMA’s synchronous online classes have Middle States Association approval.
