MercyA Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 (edited) What are your very most favorite sounds to hear? I'll start. DH and DD laughing. My canary conversing with me in her special little tweets and trills. My dog lightly snoring. Any animal eating crunchy food. Horses with grain, dogs with kibble, birds with seeds--I just love it. (Can't stand people eating noises, though!) Live concert music by a favorite artist. Thunder and rain. Wind chimes. Edited January 16, 2022 by MercyA 4 Quote
Selkie Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 The quiet little nickers my horses make when they're talking to me The Chewbacca-like noises our goofy puppy, Ducky, makes when he's getting rowdy with the other dogs Mourning doves cooing Sparrows chattering cheerfully in the early morning The funny gabbling noises and loud flapping of wings from the wild turkeys that roost in the tall trees near our barns 2 Quote
1234 Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Dc laughing together Dh laughing at my jokes Babies, any babies, laughing Horse whinny (grew up with horses & all their sounds take me back and make me happy) Rain Birds City noise at night - I know it’s weird but we’ve been away too long and I miss it all 2 Quote
happi duck Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 When geese fly over the house honking their faces off especially at nighttime I also love when animals, especially our kitty, eat "cronchy" food My kids laughing and talking excitedly with each other 1 Quote
popmom Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 (edited) An obvious one... the sound of the ocean. the crickets and cicadas in summer. the sound of rain. especially if there is no severe weather expected. I'm a "night owl", so I love to sit on our screened in porch in nice weather late at night. And we have owls. I love, love, love to hear the owls. I love to hear my girls squealing and screaming over Mario Cart or whatever video game they are playing when they are home. I think my favorite sound may be the sound of my church family in corporate confession and worship through music. He (God) didn't have to do this for me. Why would God do this for me? It's all such a miracle--that the confessions and lyrics mean something to me--because I grew up in this, and it didn't have any meaning to me. But now it does. And He didn't have to do that for me. Tap Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 So many of what others have said, are on my list too. My family laughing, especially dd23 and ds27 having one of their crazy conversations (One of my favorite conversations: what if seals could climb trees) Weather: rain, wind in trees, thunder Sound of natural water. Streams to oceans, I love it all. Especially layers like a stream coming from a waterfall, so you can hear both at the same time. Geese in the morning when they are migrating in flocks over my house. Owls, loons, doves and some song birds. My dog eating chips. 2 Quote
Indigo Blue Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 I love all the sounds in this thread. Love hearing my cat purring as she sleeps on my chest. I especially love water sounds, and I wish I lived near a beautiful babbling brook. I have an app on my phone which has really authentic water sounds of all types, and it’s a mixer style thing where you can adjust the different sounds so you can decide if you want the waterfall to be more prominent or even vary between high-pitch rain sounds and low pitch. If I close the blinds in my bedroom on a sunny day, I can sit on my bed and read and make myself believe there is a storm raging outside. 1 Quote
wintermom Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Birds chirping My family playing music in the house. It used to be a lot more frequent when they all had music lessons. Laughter - especially young children and babbies (bonus enjoyment if they're my own kids) My son whistling or humming and he doesn't even know he's doing it. 😄 Heavy rain, snow and wind outside the house. My opinion changes if I'm in a tent, though. 😉 Ocean waves River rushing over rocks Live or recorded music of great artists Wind sweeping through trees 1 Quote

Melissa Louise Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Magpies warbling. The plaint of a raven. Rain on the roof at night. The hush just before a quarter begins to play. K-Flay's quick inbreath before she starts to sing. Children's choirs. 1 Quote
DreamerGirl Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 My children's laughter DH's voice The ocean and falling rain. Two sounds I always choose on my sound machine before I sleep. Soothing Instrumental music of different genres that is background as I go about my day The deep chanting of various religions that is soothing to meditate to. The tinkle an armful of thin metal bangles usually made of gold. It takes me right back to my childhood as my grandmother and mom wore them and they made the most melodious sound as they went about their day working with their hands. The jingle of an armful of glass bangles, something I loved as a child. The chime of anklets. A sound which again takes me right back so much so I still wear a thin ankle bracelet on one foot with a single chime that makes a subtle tinkle while I walk Bells The sizzle as a ladle of batter drops on a hot pan The thump the airplane wheels make as it lands Lately, bird song 1 Quote
