dd has two dogs, that were actually "prescribed" by her therapist.  Among her diagnosis, she has ASD.

one of the dogs was injured yesterday and is now at the emergency vet.  it is unknown what is wrong, but odd are he has internal injuries after he slipped and hit his abdomen the wrong way.  Exams are continuing with deeper probling.

Could I ask for prayers for him - that the vet can find what is wrong, that it can be successfully treated.  That the dog will be comfortable.  And that dd will be calm.  It's triggering her anxiety - that's why she has dogs, to calm her down.

UPDATE: vet thinks it's a soft tissue injury.  Doesn't look serious.  More details below.

I'm sorry. I will certainly pray for him and her. I have a kid with an emotional support animal and I understand well the worry about something happening to their pet. I hope the vet finds a way to get him all fixed up and your dd can have him back home.

That's too bad. I really hope the pup pulls through alright.

Just out of curiosity, why was she prescribed two dogs?

The second dog was initially more as a playmate for the first one while she was at work. (They are full brothers, different litters.  she should have named them Yin and Yang.) But because their personalities are so different, both have been more successful at pulling her out of her anxiety and enabling her to be functional than just the one.

At least she's in a job where she could say "gotta go deal with dog medical emergency" and skip the meetings she had this afternoon.

UPDATE:

She just called.  no broken bones, lungs are clear.  Nothing obvious showed up on X-ray.  The vet thinks it's a soft tissue injury and is sending him home with pain killers and an anti-inflammatory. Hopefully, he'll be feeling better in a few days. If not, he'll reassess then (or before if he gets worse.)

Thank you everyone for your prayers.  She's sounding better than she did earlier.

He's such a great dog.  very friendly to everyone, cheerful, happy

That's interesting. I would have thought the therapy would be with her at work and at home.

Glad the dog is doing better!

Posting a picture of Yin and Yang (not their real names, but it would have been fitting!)  she likes how different they are.

the white one is the one that was injured.  He's older - and highly social. (will eat almost anything in sight, and is always on the prowl for food.  Ds left pizza on his desk while he used the bathroom. . . He came back to find some missing.) The black one was afraid of his own shadow as a puppy and will jump away from anyone trying to pet him - but is most patient with (and interested in) the cat. And his fur is so soft . . . (he shocked everyone last month when HE was the primary party getting into the chocolate.  And threw up on dd's pillow.) He communicates by sneezing.  Never knew a sneeze could be so insistent . . .

She got the 2nd one not long before covid hit.  Her employer shut down and laid almost everyone off.  She started a new (and much better) job last spring - she has been working from home ever since.  (she has her "home office" and her "work office".  one is on the main floor and one is in the basement. And she can access the each computer from the other, so it's more a mental "this is work" - and "this is personal".)

She doesn't need to have a dog with her at work - the point is to keep her out of her head when she's at home.  With her current job, she's only ever worked from home and who knows if/when she'll ever go in to an office again.

Awwww... they are so sweet!!! And they look so soft and cuddly!

I'm so happy to hear that it doesn't seem like there is anything seriously wrong. You and your dd must be so relieved!!!
