Dmmetler Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Check for travel clinics. I've found two (both through word of mouth) that did not come up in searches for COVID test sites that offer the rapid PCR specifically for asymptomatic folks who need one for travel or other "must be in the last 72 hours" uses. They're not free, do not file insurance, and are actually pretty pricey, but it removes a lot of stress. 3 Quote
plansrme Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 A lot of airports, especially those with international flights, have vendors doing tests onsite, both in the U.S. and elsewhere. Panama, for instance (my bonus kids are both from Panama), has a $50 test option in their airport. 2 Quote
Lanny Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Yes. "Carolina" (UNC) is requiring a PCR within 3 days of arrival at the dorm. If the student doesn't have insurance that will pay for the PCR, they are going to set up a program to reimburse for up to 65 USD for the PCR. My DD will be getting her PCR very soon and also an Antigen exam, in a local (Private) hospital. 1 Quote
cbollin Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 If place doesn't file insurance directly, ask for detailed receipt in case you want to file directly with insurance for any reimbursement. 2 Quote

The ones around me will take HSA cards. We don’t have a card, but are submitting dd’s for reimbursement from our HSA. 1 Quote
Dmmetler Posted January 6, 2022 Author Posted January 6, 2022 We used our HSA card as well. L's came back negative in under an hour, which is a big relief-especially since the big public drive through sites are closed due to weather today, so the pharmacy sites are even more backed up than normal. 2 Quote
NittanyJen Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 DS1’s college is offering them on campus, as least. They held the first week of winter session online to give everyone time to settle in, stay a bit distant, and get tested, before opening things up for week 2 onward. I’m not sure how they will handle spring semester. Boosters are required by mid-January, as well, from anywhere you can get one— local pharmacy or the student health center. Quote
MEmama Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Our airport does them for free. DS just cancelled his appointment because it’s no longer required for travelling to Ireland (if vaxxed, natch). Quote
