Catwoman Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I know I need a "real" eye exam, but with Covid being so insane right now, I can't go to the eye doctor and neither can dh, so I'm wondering if there are any legitimate online eye exams so we can get new eyeglass prescriptions. It's mainly just a stopgap until we can see our regular ophthalmologist, but we could both really use new glasses, and our current prescriptions have expired. I found one site, but it looks like it's only for contact lense wearers, and both dh and I want glasses. Any ideas? Quote
SquirrellyMama Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Have your eyes changed or do you just need new prescriptions for new eye wear? I was able to get a new prescription for my daughter from her eye doctor to get her to her next appointment. Her eyes hadn't really changed though. Have you checked with your eye doctor? City Mouse Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Early on in the pandemic I went to a Stanton Optical. The doctor portion of the exam is all done remotely with fancy equipment that the doctor controlled from her location. There were a few(3 I think) in the building. The initial screenings were done with a technician on the machines. I was happy with the results, and I’m still wearing those glasses a year and half later. 1 Quote
catz Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Oh jeez, earlier in covid my college age son did an online eye exam. I am trying to dig up where we used. He mostly wears contacts, he does have back up glasses. It worked fine, we were able to up his prescription. But anyway, worked just fine and he had an in person exam this year and that prescription held for him! 1 1 Quote

I have a kid who really needs a contact prescription update, but doesn't want to go to the eye doctor in the middle of this. 1 1 Quote

Unfortunately for us, going into any building isn’t really an option. 😞 But thanks for the suggestion, though! It could be a good option if this Covid nightmare ever eases up! Quote

Spryte Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 I would love to find an option like this, too, just to get us through a few more months. 1 Quote

Kelly Yes, we need new prescriptions. Otherwise, your suggestion would be great — and it hadn’t even occurred to me that the eye doctor would do that, so if we get really desperate, I’ll give it a try. Thanks! Quote
