I’m considering switching from glasses to contacts after my next eye appt. I have insurance for the eye exam but it does not cover contacts, though.  I’m sure getting them from this particular office is going to be much speedier than other options out there.  I am wondering if there are any reputable sources for ordering contact lenses online, and how best to go about doing this.  Any suggestions or sources that you’ve used you would recommend (or not?)?

I’ve used 1-800-contacts for years. I get the printed prescription from my doctor, upload it and i get my contacts in two or three days.  The price isn’t much different but my eye doctors often takes 3 weeks to get my contacts in.

You may want to consider getting your first round from your eye doctor. Sometimes it takes a few rounds to get the right fit. With your eye doctor, they will try a set, send you home with them, and if they don't work, have you come in for another, before filling they fill a six or twelve month prescription.

Your eye dr. Will give you trials and yes it may take a few to get it right and comfortable for you. If you both agree they are going to work, you can then order from anywhere. I don’t think your eye Dr will replace an open box.

I do an online search and order from whoever has the best price. I have used probably 6 different online stores. No issues.

My last several orders have been thru Costco. (I don’t know if you have to be a member to use the optical . But for us, gas and optical pretty much cover our membership fees.) They give you the rebate price instantly. You don’t have to mail in box tops and all that  nonsense.

Costco, and the savings (relative to other online places, not the doctor's office) on contact lenses pays the membership fee. Which is a good thing, as I haven't set foot in Costco for months.

I used 1-800-Contacts for years with no problems, they just cost a fair amount more than Costco for my rx.

I do agree with maybe getting a few months supply through the eye doctor to start to make sure you don't need any adjusting in the interim if you are new to contacts.  I used 1-800-contacts for years and years, no issue.  Though I've found pricing similar to in office pricing, just more convenient.

This reminds me, both my kids wear contacts and last time they got them they both had promo deals I had to jump through about 20 hoops to send in to get some sort of rebate.  Never got a rebate.  Won't waste my time again.  🙄

I've used Hubble contacts for years now - no issues. I would say their contacts are less comfortable than the brand name dailies I used, but more comfortable than the extended wear brand name. I asked a friend whose husband is an eye doctor and he said it was fine to use them.

Some eye doctors match the online prices.

Yes, one of mine did, but when I reordered I forgot to ask for price adjustment, and was charged his full price.
