For those who had Johnson & Johnson for their initial vaccine, I’m wondering which booster you went with, and how the side effects compared? Would love to see any relevant studies too on mixing and matching Johnson and Johnson with an mRNA vaccine. Thanks!

Not j and j, but I had two AstraZeneca jabs, which is a similar technology.  I had a Pfizer booster and was just a bit tired for twelve hours.

My colleague's husband had j and j followed by Pfizer and barely had any side effects

A family member had J&J followed by Pfizer(about 4 months later).  Said J&J hurt on injection and at the site for the rest of the day but felt fine otherwise.  Didn't feel anything with Pfizer until about 30 minutes and then entire arm was sore for about 24 hours, and perhaps a bit tired, but nothing that would have been noticed if she was not thinking about it.

Thank you for the replies! I had J&J and felt pretty good, but did have a rash which made me nervous about potential blood clotting problems. Feeling anxious about getting a booster, so these responses are helpful.
Most of my family has gotten Moderna or Pfizer vaccines from the start, and I don’t know many people with personal experience getting a different vaccine for their booster.

I had J&J and had an intense headache early the next morning and then was fatigued that day, but I was fine two days after the shot, except for some lingering soreness at site.

I had Pfizer for the booster and had no side effects except for soreness at the site.

I had a J&J in the spring of 2021, and a Moderna booster dose a few weeks ago. I was tired, and came down with a headache about 12-18 hours after the booster shot. My arm was very sore for days!
