Laura Corin Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 https://www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/poem/warning/ I've just finished reading More than a Woman by Caitlin Moran, and am feeling like revelling in my hagdom. https://twitter.com/abcthedrum/status/1315056011036831744 In addition to the real stuff I'm doing (planning the garden, finishing off a psychology essay, looking forward to building my new rowing machine, regrouping for going back to work next week) I have in my shopping basket these pieces of joy: https://lucyandyak.com/collections/boilersuits/products/juni-organic-denim-boilersuit-in-midwash-blue https://lucyandyak.com/collections/fleeces/products/stevie-recycled-polyester-fleece-in-kahlo-print 12 4 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Here the US there are Red Hat Societies. I understand that they meet up wearing purple dresses or at least tops, and red hats. It’s quite a showing at a restaurant. Purple is my favorite color so I don’t need the poem to make me want to wear it. But I have never owned a purple suit, and that bothers me. 6 Quote
Slache Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 The red hat society! Love those women! You'd fit right in. 2 Quote
Hannah Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 (edited) And so you should! By middle age we've absolutely earned the privilege to be as eccentric as we wish Eta: I'm so looking forward to my hag years! Younger dd is in her last year of school next year, and will be taking her driver's test in June. I'm looking forward to the freedom of not having to drive her places! madteaparty Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Reminds me of the Gogol Bordello song 😉 Quote
HS Mom in NC Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 In 18 months I'll be old enough to officially join the red hatters of The Red Hat Society. I've been counting down the years. Homeschoolers often bump into them at museums, botanical gardens, tea houses, live theater performances, etc. 2 2 Quote
Hannah Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Thank you so much @Laura Corin for the introduction to Caitlin Moran. I've enjoyed you tubes of her interviews, articles and have ordered her book. 1 Quote
Dmmetler Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 One of my piano grandmas has invited me to join her circle. I haven't done anything but join the FB group since I feel I am exceeding my COVID exposure allowance by teaching as is. 1 Quote
Mothersweets Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I love this! Thank you, Laura, for posting about hagdom! 1 Quote
