readinmom Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Good morning, all! Scout, safe travels! My mom was approved for rehab yesterday, so they are making a list of places close to our house. The plan is to get her strength back, then come home. After everything, we'll take it! She is very tired, but is excited about working to come home. There is another storm warning again today...expecting 1-2 inches of rain inland/mountains, lots of snow To do today: clean family room (vacuum/dust) before dh's physical therapy appointment this morning shower, get on the road to visit my mom stop and get a fancy coffee on way home, plus pick up some beans for ds1 lesson plan look online for some shoes, boots, long sleeve shirits for myself, dd leftovers for dinner (shredded Italian beef, lasagna, salad) relax with some reading, some decaf chai tea Have a great day! 6 Quote
TheReader Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Good morning! Feeling a little blah; we were at SIL's yesterday, outside, and the bay breeze was damp and chilly, and I know "cold air doesn't make you sick" but I feel blah. No fever or anything like that, just that "I was out in the elements too long" feeling. So, today: ....already folded & put away laundry that was waiting ....already sorted all the other laundry and started a load ....called & confirmed yes, Walgreen's will take all of us at once for our booster shots vs. making us wait for each appointment time (we have consecutive slots, but they are spaced, so the 1st one is at 4:00 and the last not until 4:40) ....helped/hung out with DH while he changed oil in Oldest's car Next up/still to do today: ,...call Disney and arrange the tickets ....go get Booster shots ....go to fencing after??? ....feed the people/eat food (leftovers) ....take my car to get inspected so we can renew the registration ....get new shoes for Oldest and myself (?) .....nap sometime -- neighbors were blaring thumpy loud music all night so I didn't sleep well (though I did take a preemptive migraine pill, which thankfully did help that aspect) ....whatever else I am forgetting.....???? Hopefully some nice lazy day stuff 6 Quote
mom31257 Posted December 27, 2021 Author Posted December 27, 2021 @ScoutTN, safe travels and enjoy your time with dh. @math teacher, I love leaving up my decor, too! I usually leave it until at least mid January. I have a snowman collection I leave out the rest of the winter, too. @readinmom, praying they find your mom the best place possible and for her continued recovery. @TheReader, hope you feel better! May I ask if it is Disney World or Land? We've only been to Florida, but we love, love, love Disney! I'm being lazy. We had breakfast, and I went through some boxes of supplies looking for washi tape I thought I had as well as some pens. We did some of a bible study we started. I haven't even started on a grocery list or cleaning. 5 Quote
SKL Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Howdie! It's about 11pm Monday here. Done: Hardly slept at all again. Dang. Night just doesn't feel like night. Maybe this will be good when we go back to our normal time zone? Had a quick buffet breakfast. Had rapid PCR tests done. Results all came back negative, yay! Sent out a fairly big annual project (but part of it isn't done because of others' delays - should finish that part tonight). Finished the last hour of work on a very bumpy car ride, then emailed the report via personal hotspot while driving through rural India. Interesting experience. Had a lovely day at friend's farm. The kids have finally let down their stress level, to everyone's relief. Too bad it's the last full day of our visit to this country. Back to the hotel room. Needed to get new room keys since I apparently lost the one I had in my pocket today. Researched Indian teas to (a) try to remember what kind my dad liked and (b) find a nearby location to buy some. Caught up on emails, news, and social media. To do: Complete some more client work - accounting for 3 entities at least. Figure out travel requirements to be allowed on the planes tomorrow night. Sleep?? 6 Quote
MooCow Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 @ScoutTN prayers for safe travel @readinmom so glad that your mom will be close and is motivated to get better!! @mom31257 I took down all my Christmas stuff except for one tree yesterday. I can't stand clutter LOL, but the outside decorations are still up! It's weirdly warm and we've had our AC on..yup we live in the South and there's a forecast for snow and rain on Sunday! Shower, wash hair Chores, one load in dryer, unload dishwasher, more laundry Figure out a menu and decorating for our new year's eve party Dinner? Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but I'm happy 😊 5 Quote
mom31257 Posted December 27, 2021 Author Posted December 27, 2021 @SKL. yay for the negative tests! Hopefully you can get some rest. I went to the bank, the post office, and the outlet grocery store to see what they might have. Found some uncured meats at very good prices that don't expire until next week! 4 Quote
ScoutTN Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Kids are at camp! Woohoo! Getting gas and then a hotel room. We will choose between a steak place or a middle eastern restaurant for dinner. 4 Quote
readinmom Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 I'm back home...the rain is heavy and temps are dropping rapidly. It's 45 here right now, and happy to relax in front of the fire for a bit. My mom is being transferred later today, have to get some things together for her. I will have to go out tomorrow and buy her some athletic shoes for physical therapy. She rarely wears shoes anymore, just the fluffy gripper socks. 5 Quote
TheReader Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 @mom31257 -- we are going to Disney World (Florida); I went once as a teen, but the family has never been, and of course it's changed tons since I was there 30+ years ago. That will be in a couple of weeks. So, today: ....load 1 is out of the dryer, waiting to be folded ....load 2 is in the dryer ....all 5 of us have our booster shots now ....we are skipping fencing and will play a board game together instead ....ate dinner, now heading up for the board game ....still need to call Disney. Oof. They did still show available tickets though, so we should be fine. Hopefully. Ha. Did not go for shoes, inspection on the car, etc. Did take a long nap. We'll see what we get done tomorrow. 3 Quote
mom31257 Posted December 28, 2021 Author Posted December 28, 2021 @TheReader, how exciting!! Dh and I went right before Covid hit, and I'm so glad we didn't wait as we had thought about doing. I've been maybe a dozen times in the last 20 years, and it's one of my favorite places to go. Living just 6 hours from it helped a lot! made a short meal plan and grocery list went shopping made dinner about to watch the last Hawkeye 4 Quote

mom31257 Posted December 28, 2021 Author Posted December 28, 2021 @MooCow, I'm sorry. Feel better soon! @history-fan, we loved Hawkeye, too. Ds didn't like the way they portrayed King Pen in it. He said it was very different than the comics. We watched that last episode. I cleaned the kitchen and started a load of towels. 1 1 Quote
