thewellerman Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 (edited) Does anyone know of a dog pharmacy or something I can call to check a drug interaction? Solved. Thank you! Edited December 23, 2021 by thewellerman to remove details Quote
KSera Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 There’s an animal poison control number, but you have to pay for advice. I would try your vet. 1 Quote

El... Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 There's an app called VETPCD, vet poison control. It was recommended by my vet. However, I really would want to call someone about a pill. I hope your doggie is ok. 1 Quote
Pawz4me Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 I'm only a layperson, not a vet. So take FWIW -- I don't think it should be a problem. The dosage of carprofen looks perfectly safe for that weight (dosing chart) According to VCAHospitals these are the drug interactions for smz tmp -- Quote The following medications should be used with caution when given with sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim: amantadine, antacids, cyclosporine, digoxin, thiazide diuretics, oral hypoglycemic agents, methotrexate, phenytoin, tricyclic antidepressants, warfarin, potassium supplements, potassium-sparing drugs, and pyrimethamine. Be sure to tell your veterinarian about any medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) that your pet is taking. I'd call around and see if an emergency vet will give you some advice over the phone, but . . I think it's nothing to worry about. 1 Quote
thewellerman Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 (edited) Thank you for looking. I was able to connect with a vet and he should be fine! In the morning, though, I need to clarify our vet's emergency plan. They have a phone number to call another vet, but the receptionist said they couldn't answer questions because they didn't prescribe the meds. For tonight, I'm just thankful he will be okay!
