mlktwins Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 So...our 3rd floor has 2 rooms, full bathroom, and a loft area. One room has been our dedicated school room since the boys were 5 1/2. The loft area has been my little office area and the other room is a guest room (we never have guest stay over -- LOL), with 2 tables and the boys' PCs. We used the school room ALL THE TIME until the past couple of years. Now the boys are just using their computer tables for school/on-line classes. The old school room is just collecting papers, books, and dust at this point. My DH was looking at the room thinking what are we going to use it for. I'm like my office - DUH!!! He said isn't it a little big -- LOL! Since I do all the paper work, taxes, etc., for us and my dad, I can certainly use the space. He has his own office downstairs 😝. Anyway, instead of being sad my boys are heading off to college soon, which I think is a good thing by the way, I am planning where to move the furniture, motivated to clean it out and so on. I am going to make the little loft area into a cozy reading nook with a chair and ottoman (I can stitch there too). My craft room is currently a mess, but am working on that. Will keep that for paper crafts, scrapbooks (finally), and my big project of going through, organizing, and scanning old pics (mine and DH's). My cross-stitch stuff will fit nicely in my new office as that is pretty compact. Things have been so crappy this year, this is something that is finally motivating me to get some stuff done! DH may not see me very much when these spaces are finished 🤣! 21 1 Quote
Miss Tick Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 That really sounds divine. Once the boys are out you could put an electric burner, electric kettle, and mini-fridge in their computer room and then just come out on, like, weekends to visit with your dh! 2 10 Quote
Melissa in Australia Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 So much fun I am currently converting Dd bedroom into a sewing room. Still has some of her stuff in it, but I am loving having the sewing machine set up all the time and projects on the go 4 Quote
Garga Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 You need to post pictures and ask us questions about how to arrange the furniture so we can all live vicariously through you!! 2 3 Quote
Hilltopmom Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 I’ve sort of done this to college kid, 21’s bedroom but I kept the bed and dresser since he does come home occasionally. But I need to remember that eventually, I have to give it up to let ds 7 move in there- he’s still sharing a bedroom with his sister. I just put a small desk and a pop up table in there for me to use for work, classes I’m taking, & some art projects I work on every so often. Mostly I just store my lonely unused art supplies in there 😂 2 Quote
