Gosh this one is hard for me.

Things I will begin:

My last full calendar year of homeschooling (teen graduates in 2023).

Maintenance once I hit my goal weight (which is a moving target right now so I am not sure exactly how much more I plan to lose before declaring goal).

Hopefully a very part time job.

Ideally a regular exercise routine.

A reread of Dante's Divine Comedy, along with related books to help me better understand/appreciate it.

A wild meadow garden in part of our backyard - really part of an ongoing process to have a more wildlife/pollinator-friendly yard instead of useless lawn.

A decent herb garden and not just a few random pots of mint and basil.

A new job search. In 2018 I had to return to work after 20+ years at home, and got a job in a customer service call center. I got complacent with thinking it was temporary, and then working from home due to Covid which is convenient. But at this point I've about had it and even though I would like to retire, I will start searching for something less stressful.

A Masters in Environmental Science.

Māori classes (I've been self studying all year but only written. These classes will focus on oral language skills.)

New job.

Kitchen renovation (before all of our appliances break, I hope!)

Declutter my living room and family room - getting rid of some kids toys that were overlooked in the last purge and some books and papers from school.

Better sleep habits.  I struggle with insomnia if I have an early start.  With my new job, I may have to pick up an evening shift getting home at midnight and then turning around to start at 8 the next morning.  I need to learn to fall asleep faster.

I am writing all of these down to work on later - thanks so much for posting these prompts.

For me:

Putting me first - no one else does so I need to start 🙂

Start college search and final homeschool year planning (x2 - twins)

Remodel my master bathroom so we can use it again (summer project hopefully)

I'm going to do the 1000 Hours outside. I think I spend that much time outside but I've never tracked the hours before and I'm curious to see how close I can get.

I'm going to go solo camping. It's not really a new beginning as I did it a lot when I was prepping for the AT.  My gear is sitting there and I'm either going to use it or sell it.

I need a new job so a job search will begin.

Working on my writing weekly.

Hopefully, planning my next Europe trip.

I’ll be paying the last semester of college tuition for ds22; hopefully he will begin a “real” job.

Things I will begin in 2022:

["will" may mean "I sure freaking hope so" for some items]

"Begin" also might not mean really begin - it might mean resume or do a better job of something I tried to "begin" in the past.

Myself:

  • Daily morning yoga (again ... I had done this in the past but lost it somewhere).  Also keeping up with my daily vitamins and a few other things that have slipped.
  • Daily physical activity and training with the dog - walk(s) and/or active play.  (Been doing this most days, but I don't want to skip any more.)
  • Really try to sneak some music playing in somehow, at least 2 or 3 times a week if possible.
  • Being more proactive with work and personal responsibilities.  Keeping my work inbox to 1 page or less if at all possible.

Re my kids:

  • Officially teaching my kids to drive and hopefully pass the driver's test.  (Though Kid2 won't be 16 until January 2023.)
  • Getting serious about preparing for college admissions.  We're not going for fancy colleges, but I'd like their ACT/SAT to reflect their abilities.
  • Find ways to make them see their intrinsic value.
  • Thanks 1
