I've made homemade hand cut-out dog treats before but don't have the recipe printed.  It was a few years ago.  It used pumpkin.

Please list your favorite dog treats here.

WAIT! ***********

Need CAT treat recipes too.  We had a cat who is now is kitty heaven but have not made homemade cat treats before. I'll be making cat treats to give to my pet sitting families (right now cats only).  Canned tuna, salmon?    Need something simple.   I know cats can be more finicky but hoping for a big win with salmon or tuna. Canned?   ETA:  simple.  Do not want to have to spend tons of money on several ingredients I don't have.   Now, I will gladly buy the tuna or salmon or other protein but would like a recipe for common foods I might already have like egg, carrot, etc.

Thanks!

I have a fantastic dog treat recipe!   So easy!

Bone Appetit (from Chloe Flavor)

2 cups whole wheat flour, plus more for dusting

1 cup cooked mashed sweet potato

1/4 cup water, plus more as needed

Preheat oven to 300.  Line large baking sheet with parchment paper

Combine flour, sweet potato, and water and mix using your hands until well combined.  Add more water, 1 tbsp at a time, as needed.

Roll out dough on lightly floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick.  Cut out treats with a bone cookie cutter (I love our little bone cookie cutter) or any shape cutter.   *I will say that sometimes I just plop them down and don't roll and they are fine.

Bake for 40 minutes, then turn off heat and let them sit in closed oven for an additional hour.   *Note:  I never remember to leave them in there for that additional hour and they are fine.

They keep for 5 days.   *I freeze them and keep them that way.

We use the King Arthur Flour Best of Breed Dog Biscuits recipe which our dog loves, but our dog is a labrador. She would eat anything. I tried to paste a link but that's not working for some reason. Our cat does not eat any treats. He prefers gifts of empty boxes or tissue paper.

Shiloh is our lab!  Yes, they will eat nearly anything! 🙂
