Tackling Saturday Together

Good morning!

My family arrives later this morning for our Christmas. We're having soup, chili, and a baked potato bar. We are doing a gift exchange game with dice, and we're numbering the gifts but will move the numbers around the circle instead of the actual gifts. That might be difficult for my dad. Then we're having a gingerbread decorating contest for those that want to do it, and we'll play bingo for little prizes.

• brownies in the oven
• coffee
• my dad is bringing some breakfast from a restaurant
• make a list of the order I'm doing the prep and cooking
• get the food ready by 12:30
• have fun
• tonight wrap the gifts for our immediate family Christmas tomorrow

@mom31257your celebration sounds so fun!! @ScoutTNhope you feel better today!! I slept in today on the first day of Christmas break. I need to get a lot done today. Dh is making noises about going somewhere for a couple days next week. Last I heard, we will stay here because he has a lot to do at his mom's, but I know he is subject to change. He is off until the day after Christmas. Plans for today:

Laundry-done

Talk to my sister-decide what I am bringing to her house for Christmas-done

Make a menu for next week's meals

Floors

Bathrooms-done

Mail/Shred-done

Order groceries for us and mil-done

Cook-done

Go to the dollar store-I have two coupons-done

Maybe make some hot chocolate since the temperature has dropped some

Read from my Christmas stories book

Do the bank statement

Make a list of thank you cards I need to write to students

Clean out the fridge-done

Go through some frozen food mil sent-she is cleaning out her freezer and won't throw it away. She send it to me-most of it is trashed.

math teacher, curious about the Christmas stories book...

To do today:

• coffee, make more for the drive
• visit with my mom (I cried when I left yesterday.  She said all of things people say when they think they aren't doing well).  Dr assures me she is just tired from all of the procedures, pain meds, etc.  I might grade while she sleeps, not sure...
• I'm going to try and pick up a few gifts on the way home as I have done zero shopping between dd, dh, and my mom's medical issues
• Trader Joe's for some quick meals, a few gifts
• more coffee
• clean off dining room table because it is now the designated dumping ground for everything
• pay bills
• not sure about dinner, probably something from Trader Joe's, salad, bread for everyone else
• read, relax

Organize gifts and stocking stuffers - have girls wrap what's left. Make sure I have everything.

Get gift cards for our trash guys

Dd took me to the city and we went to trader Joe's. We're back and she's on her way to her best friend's house to spend the night. I am now having my morning coffee LOL. DH and youngest went to the Indian store and got stuff for Christmas dinner. 

Walk and do a video! It really got cold when we came out of Trader Joe's.

Got a short walk in. Not a very nice day. 

Still feeling pretty crummy. Not tackling deskwork today! Resting and reading this afternoon. Then making a good dinner, then a shower and early to bed.

Dh and I are invited to a party, but not going.

We did Christmas this morning.  Santa fell asleep when she was supposed to be wrapping gifts, and woke at 8:30am.  But she made it work.  😛

We were originally intending to drive to Chicago starting in the morning, haha, but now it's 4:40pm and we're still home.  Hopefully we leave soon.  The kids' hopes of shopping in Chicago today are dashed.  😛

I'm all packed except for my computer and travel docs.  Right now I'm supposed to be uploading my vax and Covid test info to qualify for tomorrow's flight.  But I'm here for just a few minutes.  😛

I need to remember to take out the garbage before we leave.  Other than that, I think we have everything reasonably under control.

I didn't get a chance to do Christmas cards.  I will bring them with me and either do them in the vehicle or in the Chicago hotel room.

Off to do those travel doc things.

I caved and cleaned the kitchen. 

Went through all the boxes of ornaments 

Got the trees up and lights on w/youngest, well really he did all the lights

Put the green one in the living room family room?? I can never keep that straight. 

My new pink tree is in the front room which is "my" room 

And we have my tacky metallic pink tree that dd can decorate lol 

Dh wants to go on a walk tonight

Snowed again today just a few inches. Enough that the roads are slushie, snowy, icy just yuck so I will have to plug in my treadmill again.

We are in for the night...went out for a nice dinner.  Picked up a few items at Trader Joe's.  Watching the end of football and reading a bit.

Made it to Chicago ... ordered the arrival Covid test ... checked into our flight ... now hopefully I get a little sleep.  Still need to do Christmas cards once I wake up.
