It doesn't sound like a particularly good class, but do you have another plan for second semester if he doesn't take it?

If this was a class that my kid just wanted to get done, in an area that he didn't have a big interest in, in an area that I wasn't going to be great at supporting (which would include science), in an area that I didn't think would make a huge difference to his life long term... then I'd probably keep it.

If it was a class in an area where he needed a strong background, was interested in pursuing long term, or I had big learning goals or could support it at home, then I'd probably change gears.

Excellent point! This class is definitely an important prerequisite class for what he is thinking of studying in college.
