CAMom
Hi All~ We are having a family Christmas gathering this Saturday.:) The siblings and their respective significant others engage in a "generic" gift exchange. You know, each person contributes a gift and they all get put in a pile. We play the game and all steal from each other, etc. I'm looking for an idea for a $15 gift for this exhange. I have one of our gifts: a microwavable popcorn popper, kernels and flavored salts. I need another idea. TIA,:)
Pam L in Mid Tenn
DVD, CD, coffee or tea basket, warm socks, warm muffler (neck scarf), gift card, book, 2009 planner/calendar, bottle of wine. Last year, I gave my aunt a basket with 5 or 6 boxes of tea I found on sale. The whole family really enjoyed "testing" to find their favorites. A really cheap gift ( I had the basket, the tea was about $1 per box) was the HIT of the party!
momofkhm
You can get some decent looking family movies at Target for under $15 these days. Sometimes you can get good ones for $5. Or yankee candles. Maybe that's not generic enough for the fellas? My brain isn't working more than that. Sorry!

gardening momma
Something like this from Figi's: It's $14.99, and you can use a coupon code from retailmenot.com, like 014/1001 to get 25% off your order. Shipping is $2.99 for orders up to $15, plus $2.99 for each address you send to--this one would be $5.98 total s&h. I have the catalog in front of me, and it all looks so good! athena1277
I'd try to think of something that several of them are into and get something related to it. Not everyone will want it, but it will likely get fought over. Like it they like to camp, maybe a lantern or if they like to cook, some new kitchen tools. Alice
Hollywood Video here just had a sale of previously viewed movies for $3.99. These were very recent movies though (Pirates of the Caribbean, Meet the Robinsons, The Bourne Ultimatum, etc). I picked up a bunch and we're giving it as a family gift to my SIL an kids along with popcorn and maybe some movie candy. Another idea if you have a Trader Joe's near you is to go and get a bunch of interesting/unusual food things. Sauces, jellies, crackers, chips, dips, etc. Whatever people in your family like. You could do this at other stores but at TJ's you could get more for $15. :)
alpidarkomama
Fun pens and paper. Movie tickets (well, probably ticket in most places these days!). Chocolate.

Nestof3
How about a gift card to Amazon? You can get them online or at stores like Rite Aid. You can get a book or music downloads.
Nestof3
I-tunes gift card. Paula Can you answer this for me? Is i-tunes only compatible on apple MP3 players?

You could do this at other stores but at TJ's you could get more for $15. :) TJs has good chocolate truffles for $3.99 a box and the candy cane jo-jos are wonderful:). I did a chocolate gift bag for a friend this year with those and a $9.99 stack of dark chocolate bars from different countries (it came out to a bit more than $15). For something a bit different, they have a new thin ginger cookie that would pair well with their pumpkin butter. You can usually get the big box movie candy at the dollar store (the Dollar Tree, around here). Good luck with this. My husband came home from one at work yesterday with a nice selection of imported beers and had a lot of fun. My extended family (my side of the family and our step siblings) started doing it a few years ago, however, and it got very ugly very quickly. We now refuse to participate after folks almost got into fights, accused others of cheating and outright said that we didn't deserve to end up with the $5 gift cards that we ourselves brought because we didn't "need" them as much as others (everyone was supposed to have brought something worth $5, though)--and these are all adults, most who have their own children and some having grandchildren. I'd hate to think what would have happened over a $15 limit......
