katilac Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 (edited) The insured person is supposed to sign the policy. Signing for them is illegal. Frequently no health exam, but you need to fill out health information. Frequently no waiting period. A reasonable policy amount depends on the situation. It's reasonable to have a high policy on your spouse to replace their income, particularly if you have kids. It's not reasonable to pay a disproportionate amount of your income to insurance. If they found the policy, they can call the company and alert them. It's easier if you have the policy number, but I'm sure they would work hard to help in a potential fraud situation. BlsdMama Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Wow that’s weird. I can only answer that I had to do a full exam for mine. Also, we looked into this because we took out my policy when I fell the first time and suspected something more but hoped it was just an old knee injury. I then got a clean bill of health from a neurologist. While I had no official waiting period, if I’d died of ALS in the first two years, it would have likely been deemed a pre-existing condition, and they likely wouldn’t have paid out. That’sa creepy scenario. i will say my DH has “automatic” policies on me and the kids through work. It’sa benefit. No health exams needed for those policies. Quote
