Need new thermometer - recommendations!

We have a growing collection of thermometers.  But, with that it seems they are not accurate.  Is that due to age?  Digital ones.

Are the contactless thermometers accurate?

DH bought a contactless one on Groupon.  It was cheaply made and I don't think accurate at all.  But, how does one know for sure?

Any brands out there they are proven accurate?  Please share.  Thanks!

I haven’t had one last more than 3 years since I was an adult.  Even buying the home version of hospital brands.

Really?  That's interesting.  Well, I'm not sure then.  I assumed they lasted longer than 3 years.  What kind do you have now?
