It has become really apparent a relative needs some kind of medical monitoring / sos type device (bracelet or necklace) since they live alone and with some medical issues.  They become a little bit of an ostrich handling things like this, so I’m hoping to bring some options to the table.  What device / service do you recommend? They have a home security service - do those companies ever have something that’s a tie in?

With my mom, we went with an apple watch with the fall detection, etc.  It meets her needs for now and was much cheaper....and easier for her to accept.   The issue is they have to wear the device for it to work.

My brother is a long time volunteer EMT and fireman. He's recommending the Apple watch to the elderly people in his life who are tech savvy enough to use one.

I do think checking with the home security provider would be a good option.

Thank you @Ottakee, @lmrich and @Pawz4me! Can she also make an emergency call easily from her watch if it’s something other than a fall?  The fall technology is very relevant to her, too.

If you get the kind with cell service, she can make normal calls, or she can just hold down a button on the side to call 911. The version without cell needs to be within Bluetooth range of her iPhone in order to make calls. The fall detection works well, though. My dh has had it activate several times when he has fallen during sporting activities.
