SKL Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 A poster made a great suggestion on my seniors gift thread - a robot vacuum. But when I go on Amazon, it looks like these are run by iphones. My folks don't have iphones. They also don't have wireless internet. Are there robot vacuums that do not require an iphone or wireless internet? Thanks!! Quote
Lady Florida. Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 (edited) Do you mean specifically iPhone or any smart phone? Most robot vacuums have an app but also a "clean" button. If you don't want to deal with wireless internet or smart phones at all you can just hit the clean button and it will find its way around the house. Most will go back to the dock when they need to be recharged. If they don't get a self emptying robot they'll need to check the dust cup regularly and empty it. The downside to one with no internet or bluetooth is that you can't set it to clean certain rooms or areas because most of those types require the app. Still, an inexpensive Roomba or other robot vacuum should have a simple clean button on the robot itself that they could just press and let it go. ETA: They should at least look for one with a memory function. When it goes back to recharge it will remember where it left off and go back there after the battery is full. Without that function it would just end up cleaning the same area over and over. Edited November 24, 2021 by Lady Florida. Quote
Bootsie Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 We have an Eufy that can be run by pushing the button or a remote control. I think there is an app that I could run it by my phone if I wanted to, but I haven't set that up. Quote
